NFL in talks on London Super Bowl

    http://blog.theredzone.org/ViewItem.asp?Entry=1142

Tim Love of BBC.com reports The NFL have had 'substantive talks' with officials in London about holding the Super Bowl in the city, a senior league official has told BBC Sport.

While commissioner Roger Goodell has previously admitted an interest in bringing the game to London, this is the first confirmation of discussions.

"We've spoken on what it would take to host and for us to bring it over," said events vice-president Frank Supovitz.

"The city has all the facilities needed, and in great quantity."

Supovitz was talking in New York City where the NFL Draft will take place this weekend.

"We have had very substantive conversations with the city of London. We've got to the point of exploring the bid document," he added.

    ------------------------------------------------

With our luck this would be the Super Bowl the Jets finally make it to.

    GTFO!

    That's ridiculous IMO.

Mark my words, the Super Bowl will be held in London in a few years. It will be the one season in my lifetime that the Jets make it to the big game. The game will be on at 5AM, it will rain terribly at Wembley the night before and the Jets will lose 6-3 in the Mudbowl II.

That's what I was wondering. But I am sure the NFL would want to keep the game in prime time.

London is 5 hrs ahead so the game would at the very latest be on at 4PM here in on the east coast. Europeans hate American football almost as much as we hate soccer. Now we're giving them the Super Bowl. Ugh.

    Goodell is an *******.

They can't - unless they want kickoff to be at 11PM or later in London. The Brits with their early culture would love that.

Goodell is trying to copy what Stern did with the nba. It's not going to work though.

On another note - when the NFL expands the schedule to 17 or 18 games in a couple of years the SB will be played on the Sunday of President's Day Weekend. NASCAR has agreed to have the Daytona 500 on another day. I hope they move it to the Saturday. That would be an awesome weekend.

Seriously, what has Goodell done as commish besides cover up the Pats scandal, give thugs and criminals second and third chances, and try to move football overseas? He blows.

IMO Tags was one of the worst commissioners ever. He did nothing for the fans. Long time teams like the Browns and Oilers relocated under his watch. The advent of the PSL came under his watch. He left such a bad CBA in place it is now in danger of being cancelled all together and there is a good possibility of a work stoppage. All part of Tag's legacy. Not a good commish at all.

The Super Bowl in London would cheapen the game and basically makes the league look like sell outs... The European Champions Soccer league would never have their championship here.....

Goodell says "not aware" of London Super Bowl talks

Just heard him on the Dan Patrick radio show. The next 3 SB's are Miami, Dallas, Indianapolis. There will be a vote for the one after that in May. Possibilities are New Orleans, Arizona, Miami. He said that they often discuss future games with London officials but he was not aware of any Super Bowl discussions.

Roger Goodell is a sh*tbag Pats homer.
