DE Jamal Westerman - Rutgers

He's an interesting guy to keep an eye on during camp.

    6'3 255, a possible move to OLB?
This isn't me speculating by the way. I read on a Rutgers site that the Jets grabbed him, no link yet.

Jamaal Westerman is a very nice pickup for us. DE from Rutgers. I have Rutgers season tickets so I got to see him throughout his entire career. The guy was very productive for Rutgers off the edge. He is quick but was a very stout run defender. He also is one tough SOB. He tore his biceps midway through this past year(his senior season). He didnt tell anyone other than the medical staff, including his teammates, and played through it. He got surgery right after the regular season ended, didnt play in the bowl game because he didnt want to further any damage. I think it was a great move to take a chance on this kid.
"Davie is one of the draft's more intriguing prospects at the age of 26. He opted to bypass his senior season at Arkansas to enter the draft - Davie only joined the Razorbacks in 2001 after spending four seasons playing minor league baseball in the St. Louis Cardinals' organization. This past season, Davie was a backup to Arkansas freshman D.J. Williams, who emerged as the Razorbacks' top receiver and an All-SEC selection. Davie often was featured in two-tight end sets, but did manage eight catches for 71 yards along with three touchdowns to tie for the team lead in 2008. That production came in only six games, including four starts. As a sophomore in 2007, Davie had career highs of 14 receptions for 115 yards and three touchdowns. Described by coach Houston Nutt as a "good point-of-attack blocker," Davie was a key to the Razorbacks' running game in 2007 centered around star tailback Darren McFadden. His hands are considered a bit more suspect, but he was effective as a decoy this past year."
This is the guy Maylock was calling a sleeper... not a blocker at all though.
What makes you think he's not much of a blocker? I don't really know anything about him, but from this it sounds like blocking was kind of his primary duty at Arkansas... especially seeing as his career high receptions for a season was 14... This sounds like the kind of blocking depth we needed at the TE position

    ???

Davie is a terrific blocker- much more a blocker than pass catcher...in essence he's James Dearth that you can line up next to tackle on third and two running downs...

I've stated for three weeks on the draft forum the Jets were very much interested in this guy......

Here is another guy we should take a look at:

Michael Ray Garvin DB/Kick Returner Florida State

local product out of Don Bosco. small but This kid is FAST! He probably would have been the fastest at the combine had he been invited.

Check out this article and the picture of him

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/13/sports/football/13garvin.html?ref=football

EDIT: SIGNED BY THE CARDINALS....This kid could be a steal.
TE Andrew Davie anyone??? It says we signed him.
Sweet! I had this guy in my mock draft.

He can block, has good speed and hands. He also was a LS in H.S. During Arkansas pro day scouts had him LS.

    My Jets Mock Picks:

    1st – Freeman - QB - Sits behind Clemens in '09
    2nd - Trade out – pick up a 3rd & 5th
    3rd – Juaquin Iglesias - WR
3rd – Toler - CB - can never have enough CBs - Lowery a possibility for a move to S?
4th – Sammie Lee Hill – NT - backs up Jenkins
5th - Zach Potter - DE - seems like a good 3-4 DE prospect-should be able to add 20 lbs.
6th - Antonio Appleby – ILB – needed depth behind Scott and Harris
    7th – Andrew Davie - TE/LS - good blocker, hands, speed & can LS

Brian Hoyer to the PATS, hope this isn't another Brady situation, that would suck!

Sounds like a backup for Keller....

Rob Myers - Utah State tight end Rob Myers is being hailed as the next Chris Cooley.

Going to same school as Cooley helped start the comparisons, but his Pro Day numbers were also impressive. Rob ran a 4.58 and 4.63 in the 40 yard dash, topping Cooley’s 4.74. He matched Chris’ bench press reps with 22 at 225-pounds and his broad jump at 9-feet-9-inches.

In his junior year, caught 21 passes for 32o yards.

Myers has played nine games the past two years...the fact he got a combine invite, and was unable to workout, is mindboggling....
