his first game as a pro against one of the best receivers to play the game. get real.
Typical Jets fan excuse.

Pro Bowl CB's don't get smoked by 15 yards for long TD's.
Wasn't Revis cockfart. That was a cover 3 zone defense.
Not only was it a Cover 3 Zone, but the 3 defenders near Moss were Jonathan Vilma, David Barrett, and Erik Coleman dipsh*t.
All I have to say is that when you consider Tom Brady threw 8 interceptions all season and that one was picked off by Darelle Revis, that's just a fantastic thing right there. :D

The fact is he played very well for a rookie corner. Its even better when you consider he was forced into the starting lineup from week one. Its even more impressive when you consider how good he looked with next to no semblance of a real pass rush generated by his front 7. I'm always wary of throwing around things like "future pro-bowler" but the fact is that the guy has the goods as long as he can keep taking strides and put it all together. Its impossible not to love what you've seen from him and get excited as the fact is that even as a rookie, he was the best Jets CB we've seen in a long time. Does he have a chance? Perhaps, but the "name recognition" part of it is always the killer. After all, Rhodes is still waiting for his first trip.
Revis is a first rounder who plays in NY and had a well documented hold-out.

He's got more name recognition than Rhodes already
No chance over the next two seasons, have you guys not watched Rhodes get stiffed for 2 years in a row? Revis could be the best CB in the league for the next two years but aging vets with reps will get the nod.
Well said. He would need to have some gaudy interception numbers (which propably won't happen as he is the last guy opposing QBs want to test in our secondary). Another thing is, a lot is based on team success. Now if we have a great season, maybe he has a chance. He obviously has the talent...

Why not? Your pro Bowl, MVP QB, choked like a ***** with her first big one, last year in the superbowl.

Granted, but he still plays for the Jets and without big INT numbers and/or a very successful team it'll still be tough. Just look at the last few years and the only Pro Bowlers we've had. Going back a bunch of years you had Mawae who just made it every year essentially by default, Abraham who was usually leading the league in sacks when voting was going on (before getting hurt later in the season) and Martin in some of his better seasons. Since then you've had Law who was a Pro Bowl regular prior to the Jets and had 10 INTs, Vilma who lead the league in tackles and still only made it in as an alternate and Miller who made it in as KR thanks to leading the AFC in KR AVG and TDs. Hell, Leon didn't even make it in at KR despite leading the league in KR TDs and ranking amongst the top in KR AVG. But Cribbs is on a popular 10 win team and Leon is on the Jets.

There is a chance. But it is very slim and I personally dont see it happening.

The best corners in the game are in the AFC. Revis is going to have to explode to beat out guys like Baily, McAllister, Cromartie, Bly, Mathis, Robinson, Hall, Asomugha and some others as well.

    I dont see it happening.

Side note; what is with most Jets fans. We are the quickest to anoint someone the next ProBowler after 1 season and we are just as quick to say that someone is a complete bust after 1 season.

Give players sometime. We have no clue what Revis is going to do in his career. It sure looks like he has some potential...but lets not push the cart before the horse.
I guess you missed the opener last year where Moss smoked Revis by 15 yards for a long TD.
I guess you missed the little fact that Revis wasn't covering Moss on that play.

Moss lined up on the other side of the field. He played Moss well whenever he was on Moss that day.

Revis has a CHANCE, with his skill and the improved pass rush,

but the pro bowl is a popularity contest. We know this because of Rhodes and his constant snub due to John Lynch who constantly has half the numbers in almost every category.

Being a humble guy on the lowly Jets will hurt Revis' chances of making the pro bowl more than any bad performance ever could.

Does he have a chance... of course.

It's an open vote, so everyone in the league does.

Will he get votes over some of the aforementioned names. Highly unlikely. Pro-Bowl isn't about who's best, it's about who's recognizable.

    I voted no.

I didn't make a choice because whether a Jets player gets selected is dependent on how well the Jets do.

Jets players are generally not given the benefit of the doubt by the media or their peers in probowl voting. As such, a 10-6 record (usually the team is 8-6 by the time the voting is closed) will not do it.

I'd put money down that if the Jets are 12-4 in this year or next, Mangold, Rhodes, Harris, and Revis are making the probowl as starters or alternates.

It's just the way it is. The Jets have to vastly overperform for their players to get recognized.

If the Jets defense improves his chances go way up.

oh btw...your a die hard Pats* fan right?...well at least this century since the cowboys havent won sh*t...do you remember how assante did in his first game in his first season as a starter?...do u remember who the Pats* faced??...

oh they faced randy moss and the oakland raiders...moss had numbers around 5 catches 130yds and a td...guess assante couldnt be much of a factor even having a couple years riding the pine...
