    Mets at Pirates(makeup game)

End of 1 no score. Had about an hour rain delay after starting 1st inning. Guess that weather's on it's way here. Should be no more delays in Pitt, though. Evans got handcuffed on a lead-off double by McCutheon, and Redding did well to get out of the inning. Not much else going on as yet.

With free outs? That's the way it was intended to be played? Some how I doubt that. Maybe if pitchers hit in the minor leagues it would be different, but these guys go from HS to the pros without taking at bats. It's pathetic and embarrassing to watch these guys hit.

Why do NL teams use the DH in the minors?

    9 Positions, 9 Players, not 10.

Simple, they don't. Only when they play AL franchises.

The talk is that Perez is making one more rehab start before joining the club (Should be tomorrow), so he might be on turn to replace Redding next time out.

Baseball was also intended to be played only at day. And without gloves. Or catchers' masks. And the winner of games was whatever team got to 21 runs first. There were no called strikes, and 10 balls to a walk. Then 8. Then 6. Then 5.

    Like all things, baseball evolves.

Church on a hot streak now..

Awesome to come back from a 5 run deficit; let's tack on some more runs.

Mets take the lead, BIG HIT by Church, what a badly pitched game. I wonder why they didn't walk Church with 1st base open on a 3-1 count, with the right handed Evans next.

Nice rebound from K-Rod, Mets win, after throwing almost 50 pitches he'll be off tomorrow.
