watching hockey night and butch has made an awesome point..which i agree with contrary to my statement before...

basically said you can have the islander make the playoffs and gain some experience but they wont be going anywhere so why even bother miss the playoffs get a higher draft pick and get another young talent to play.

that makes complete senses to me no matter how you look at it the isles might be in the best position of the three local teams for the future, thoughts?

I see the point about the draft pick, but I'd hate to see a team throw in the towel and just go through the motions for the rest of the season.

At some point, Wang is going to decide he's a millionaire who doesn't need this crap.

No doubt about that. If I were him, I'd have hit that point a few years ago.

    Another loss.....

If it werent for the shootout, and ties were still in effect, they'd be 0-8-1, winless, in the last 9.

That's pretty bad. Just when you think there might be hope.... then NOPE!

Good game tonight vs the hawks, they looked rejuvenated....granted its the 1st game back but hopefully they can build on this win.

i wonder if a win like that keeps rolo in an islander uniform for the rest of the season....

Not a single W since the Hawks, eh? Jeez, another disappointing year.

And, wow, this guy's a bum-

    From nhl.com-

Injury Report -- Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro is on injured reserve with more knee issues.

Had a 2-0 lead. Was 2-1 going in to the third. Lost 3-2. WTF? Maddening.

VS. put up a stat at the start of the third, something like Isles were 21-3-2 when entering the third with a lead. To which I started scratching my head, because I could have sworn they lost a whole bunch of games early in the season when leading in the third. Even blowing a few 3 goal leads.

Charles Wang needs to get on the phone now with Ratner and the new Russian owner of the Nets to move the Islanders to Brooklyn. It's our only chance of keeping the Islanders in the area, because that Lighthouse Project is not happening.

Yeah, I'd guess the lighthouse project is DOA.

As for moving them to Brooklyn, that might not fly. You'd then have 3 NHL teams within like a 15 mile radius. Nuts!

    Jeez...

"It marked the ninth time this season the Isles have lost a game after blowing a lead of two goals or more."

What's the problem with this team? Inconsistent goaltending? lack of defense? lack of consistent offense? coaching?

There's always next year! (Wow, sounds like something a Jets fan might say....)

Looks like Isles have the 5th pick in the up-coming draft.
