Six-Year-Old Boy Trapped in Weather Balloon (merged)

    click link for video - - - -http://www.tmz.com/

A six-year-old boy somehow climbed inside a weather balloon in Ft. Collins, Colorado -- and now the balloon is careening out of control with the boy stuck inside.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office says the 6-year-old boy's family was building an experimental aircraft which had a large helium balloon attached to it at their home on Fossil Ridge Road in Fort Collins.

The family told officials the boy got onto the aircraft and was able to untie the rope that held the aircraft in place. The device -- which is 20 feet long -- has the potential to rise to 10,000 feet.

OMFG! Any1 catch this breaking news?

Apparently there is a six year old boy who climbed into his parents experimental helium balloon and launched it. He is now haplessly sailing over the skies of Colorado while authorities try to figure out how to get control of the thing somehow. The balloon could get to 10,000 feet and if that happens there's no predicting where the wind will carry him to.

OT: Boy stuck inside ballon flying over colorado

    www.cnn.com

this is the most insane thing I've ever heard.

6 year old boy is 7000 feet up in the air inside of a homemade helium balloon.

Doesn't look good, he has no control of the thing, its 7 degrees at that altitude, and its moving fast...

    Hope all turns out well

On the bright side, if he makes it OK, he'll be on the Tonight show.

The Tom Jones dude talking, who is a former astronaut, seems to think that this is no big deal whatsoever and there's nothing to worry about:eek:

Who the Fck has an "experimental balloon-powered aircraft" in their backyard that is so poorly secured that a 6 year old can untie it? That's messed up...

they are talking about a helicoptor (I don't have the sound up, just cc, and I have been sort of busy at work so i have missed much discussion) I guess if they could get a couple of choppers above to create a downwind...this is an awful situation
