When you say MLB panel, do you mean on the MLB Network? Or just anytime ESPN gets together any collection of former middle infielders + John Kruk?
Truth be told, announcers have some of the oddest lexicons. I don't think you should read too much into it. I personally can't stand when they constantly refer to players on opposing teams being "chippy" with each other. Announcers in EVERY American sport say this, and I have NEVER heard that term used anywhere else than coming from my TV.
If 'scuffling' really has replaced 'struggling', it's just another episode of pathetic American sports announcers in Political Correctness Gone Wild. They won't ever say anything negative about a player. Watch some Premeire League soccer to hear how a game should be called. Unpartisan professionalism should extend not just to fairness towards both teams, but towards objective reporting of outcomes, not this positive spin BS ("he's gonna look at the film and get that fixed for next week!") we get in all our major sports.
