Leonhard to have surgery on thumb, out indefinitely (merged)

Rex just said in his press conference. Didn't say how long it will keep him out but it's safe to assume he will be out this weeks game.

+1 and there was so much hate for this guy during FA

Maybe we move Lowery to safety since Lito is healthy...the hits just keep on coming.

I knew that thumb was going to be a problem.

This might mean that Rhodes is going to have to be in coverage most of the time.

Communication was bad with Leonhard in there...can only imagine what it will be like without him.

I can see them all pointing at each other like idiots right up to when the ball is snapped.

I know that Eric Smith is next in the depth chart/most likely will start but I still don't feel great about him back there an entire game against Brady.

Lowery is at least used to the starting role.

I'm just throwing stuff out there.

Think he'll give Randy Moss the Anquan Boldin treatment?

    Eric Smith is fine...

He can tackle better than the guy he'll be playing next too as well...

I thought I saw Inhegdibo back there for a little bit with Eric Smith playing in the box.

Apparently, he can also catch better too.

    This injury really sucks.

lowery sucks..Lito can't tackle...how about Strickland in there...besides Harris and Revis, the defense is very average..

Eric Smith is an excellent tackler and very tough. Yeah, he makes some coverage mistakes, but he is young.

Of course, against Brady, that could make the difference in the game.

I don't question Smith's toughness, fundamentals, speed, etc. I just hope he knows his assignments and his head is in the game 100%.

Obviously he won't be able to return punts, but I REALLY REALLY hope he can play. We need as many good DBs as possible...this week of all weeks.

    Unfortunate for Leonhard.
It's also unfortunate that he was the one who missed the coverage on Mercedes Lewis on the deciding play of yesterday's game.
