An Open Letter To Rex Ryan: Operation Sanchise 2009

At this point the Jets have more to gain by benching Sanchez for two games and making him watch Clemens play.

The fact and the best part is the Jets have absolutely nothing to lose from making such a move right now, for numerous reasons.

First, Mark is doing nothing to prove he’s better than Clemens.

Second, Mark IS hurt, would benefit from the rest and, you’re not doing anything you might not end up HAVING to do anyway, or should in fact BE doing all things considered season wise.

Third, the Jets are playing Tampa and Atlanta! If Clemens can't play WELL enough to win those games then he had NO business taking up a roster spot in the first place.

Fourth, while statistically and remotely possible, does anyone feel the Jets deserve to be in the playoffs, having lost to every team they should have beaten much think they’d not get embarrassed on a national playoff stage? (Sure, getting there would be wonderful and we’d all get drunk and have an orgasm)

All of this would take real innovative, proactive, out-of-the-box thinking and risk taking on the part of the head coach. Something I'm almost sure Ryan hasn’t acquired yet. ... Don’t tell Mark you're benching him due to injury. Make him think you're benching him for poor performance, which you could easily get away with doing and with not a lot of criticism. Some may ask why you didn't do it sooner.

Let Mark sit on the bench and be tortured by watching Clemens make all the same mistakes we’re all tortured by watching Mark make now. Where he has nothing to do but sit, torture and convince himself into realizing how he’s capable of doing better.

Then start Mark against the Colts in a huge statement game (assuming they're still undefeated) and watch things play out.

What you will have gained is teaching a Rookie a real life hard lesson learned, something he actually needs right now. The Worst case scenario, which you have the odds in your favor against happening is Clemens causes us to lose the next two teams and you improve your next draft pick status!

Yes, let us sacrifice the other 50 guys on the team for the sake of accomplishing pretty much nothing at all.

    Brilliant!

The Jets should sign Ryan Leaf for the next two games, we really want to show Sanchez what sucking is and let him get the full effect.

    In a word... dump.

He may end up not playing against a ****ty team anyway. There's not a whole lot to lose. We should win either of the next two games with you playing QB

Quite possibly the dumbest post I've ever seen on this site.

    And, that's saying something.

oh! i get it, as opposed to sacrificing 50 guys while your rookie throws pic6s all game and you get humiliated by division teams you should have beaten! i guess that's what you must mean by sacrificing?

Q: Why did the Jets Trade up to draft Sanchez and Trade for Brett Favre and get him out of retirement? Why is Sanchez starting over Clemens?

A: Because they realized their 2nd round pick Clemens absolutely SUCKS and that Sanchez not only is better TODAY but he has more UPSIDE.

Sanchez has not proved he's better than CLEMENS???

Now Im saying sit SANCHEZ to rest his injured knees. Not at all because CLEMENS gives us the best chance to win.

    1standGoal....
You do realize that we had a chance to win last night after Mark went out because

    1) Our Defense in the 2nd half was lights out!
    2) we were going up against the 27 rushing defense.

He cost the Jets the Buffalo game (and arguably the Pats game, though I don't really think so).

But the 2 Dolphins losses had nothing to do with Clemens at all.
