As much a huge hip hop fan I am who grew up with it all my life since the late 80's. I don't understand why so many artists has to portray some kind of illegal act on their mix tape cover. It gets annoying and feeds ignorant thinking. I miss the days of A Tribe called Quest and De La Soul .

It is what sells. People don't want to think or a positive message. They want a justification for their laziness and failures of a life.

Bay area rappers have to be legit gangsters to survive in the game. It's just the nature of the bussiness.

That's still no excuse for the nonsense on these mix tape covers. You can be legit and be "Smart" as well. Images of negativity all brings more unwanted attention to yourself from the law and from some young knuckle head who really wants see if your so called gangster. That's in my imo the Bay Area really misses Mac Dre who was all about partying.
