Pasts sign Tully Banta Cain to 3 year contract

Not sure if this was posted, if so, dump.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. The New England Patriots have re-signed linebacker Tully Banta-Cain to a three-year deal.

Banta-Cain had a career-high 10 sacks and 60 total tackles last season while starting 10 games for the AFC East champions.

Banta-Cain played four seasons with the Patriots before going to San Francisco as an unrestricted free agent in 2007.

After two seasons, the 49ers released him and he re-signed with New England.
$19,000,000

    I believe it's a $6,000,000 signing bonus this year.

A little over $1,000,000 in salary and $4-6 million in the years after.

Seems like a big contract for a guy that overachieved last season.

    Good for him

the deal averages just under 3 mill per year salary and a 6 mill bonus. 3 years 14.5 mill, the guy got ten sacks playing part time. the 19 mill is if he hits all the incentives, SB, etc.

I guess you have to take into account that Crummy Cant-aplay is the best player on the vile rotten pile of manure known as the Pattycake "defense" and with NOBODY wanting to come there and play for the Psycho anymore, they needed to vastly overpay him to stay around

I dont know what you mean? Who cares what his salary is for this season?
The pats have to account for 14.5 mill of cap space over the next three years.

This uncapped year scares me a little. Just how will payrolls be addressed in a new collective barganing agreement and the ability to keep teams intact in the near term. There are a great many teams that could have over spent for this one season. Could there be a Bird rule comeing to the NFL?

Well, he's taking up as much cap space as a glorified kicker in this UNcapped season.......

But next year, he'll be paid in the $4-6 range, along with the following year, in what will likely affect the cap numbers.

He'll be 30 this season and obviously overachieved.

    I'm not scurred.

Let's take a look at what this "over achiever" did against that awesome Jet team the last time they played.

    5 tackles ( one for a loss)

    2 sacks ( 14yds loss)

    1 forced fumble

    1 QB hit

Yeah, that All Pro Jet OL really did an outstanding job against him.
