iPhone Apps (Jets/Yanks others?)

As a loyal Blackberry user I finally had to switch to an iPhone for business use (I work on Apple based products and sell an Apple based product professionally. as I'm setting this puppy up, I was wondering if there was a Jets or Yankees focused app you like, and any other apps you can't live without (let's avoid the various porn apps please). Thanks!

I have an app called Jets Tweets... It basically just compiles all the Jets Players twitter accounts and sends you what the player tweets. It's ok, but not great.

This isn't Yankee specific but it is baseball!

My friend and I just submitted this app today so hopefully it'll be available soon. We think it's pretty cool.

Don't worry about apps for Jets news. There's only one you truly need:

    Google Reader.

On your desktop computer, go to Google, find Google Reader, and get to the page where you add feeds.

Then, go to each of the NY newspapers and find their RSS sections. They usually show the little orange RSS logo on the footer of their sites. Here's the NY Times, for example:

    http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/index.html

What you do is go to each team that you like (Jets, Yanks, Rangers, etc.) and copy/paste the RSS URL into the Google Reader window.

Then, on your iPhone, install the Google app, use the reader function and voila, all the NY sports articles you want. The way RSS feeds work is that its pushes you the news you want the moment its created, and its all there in chronological order in one place. I use this not only for NY sports but world news, local news, keyword-based articles, celebrity gossip....you name it.

You'll never have to navigate to the NY Post or NY Daily News again. Just let the RSS feeds push the stories to Google Reader.

    Other great apps:

ESPN ScoreCenter (the best sports score app out there, now with push notifications giving you inning-by-inning scores right on the home screen without pushing a button).

Meebo (the best free instant messaging app, works with all major IM's like AOL, Yahoo, MSN, etc.)

Facebook (if you use the service)

AccuWeather (its the best weather app, 15 day forecasts, feels-like temps)

Night Stand (the best free app, period, turns your iPhone into an LED clock when docked).

DirecTV (if you have the service, you can see program schedules and set your DVR from anywhere in the world at any time).

AOL Radio (streams WFAN anywhere in the world, listen to Mets games or Jets chat in Hong Kong).

Battery Magic (free app, tells you how much battery life you have left for each function....2 hours of video left, 12 hours of music, 5 days of standby)

Now Playing (movie times, GPS, streams previews, read reviews)

    Pandora (stream personalized music)

    WhitePages (self explanatory)

    Yellow Pages (self explanatory)

Yelp (social recommendations for restaurants, GPS enabled)

Bank of America (or any other mobile banking app)

MLB At Bat (free version, great in-depth MLB app, best realtime scoring and virtual game display)

Currency (free app, if you travel, converts any currency from one to another and uses realtime information on dollar values from the market)

Kayak (the very best travel app, if you need prices on flights, hotels, cars, etc. this is it)

Games (too many to list, but Trism is my favorite)

You gotta try the new google App, it is sweet. Say you are driving but want to search for something on the web, you can just hold the phone up to your ear and speak what you are looking for and it will search it automatically. That's just one of the many cool feature that App has. Its Definitely worth the free download.

I use an iPhone app that's called "NY Jets News"

Every headline that exists related to the NY Jets goes on it. I find out things that are immediately released by ESPN, etc...
