The Oakland Raiders began their voluntary offseason workout program today. There was no sign of their franchise quarterback, JaMarcus Russell.
David White of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that quarterbacks Charlie Frye (who signed his original draft pick tender) and Bruce Gradkowski (who has spent plenty of time at team facilities rehabbing a knee injury) both showed up. But White didn't spot Russell.
Russell isn't exactly known for his work ethic, so it's no surprise if he's not going to do any more work than he has to. One player laughed and told White that Russell is "a horror show," while another said, "don't hold your breath."
Last year Russell missed the first week of the offseason program but did participate in a lot of it after that. Since then he's been diagnosed with lethargy addiction.
