tye hill

the falcons just released this guy... i think he is worth look at as a nickle corner....any thoughts? very good prospect out of clemson reminds me of ray mickens

Tye Hill CB 510 185 Clemson
    By: Robert Davis

    NFL Combine Stats: 40-yard dash - 4.30, vertical jump - 41"

After starting his career as a tailback, Tye Hill moved to the defensive side of the ball and became one of the best cover corners in the college game. He was immediately thrown into the starting lineup as a sophomore and finished the year with 37 tackles and two picks. As a junior, he busted out with a huge year. He tallied 52 tackles on the season, and had an amazing 21 passes defensed, which tied a school record. Hill closed out his career with another fine showing. He had 54 tackles on the year to go with a sack, and three interceptions. Hill also doubles as a track standout, participating in the 60m, 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay. He took the 2004 ACC outdoor 100m title and indoor 60m title.

There are very few corners in this draft with the speed and natural cover ability that Hill has. He can turn and run with any wideout in this draft. He does not lose any ground when changing directions with the wideout and can mirror any move he makes. Hill is aggressive at making plays on the ball. Hes arguably the top cover corner in the draft.

As great a cover man he is, his only glaring weakness effects every part of his game. His lack of bulk limits what he can do in the running game, and his overall lack of size leads to him having problems matching up one on one against bigger corners.

Tye Hill has the cover skills to be a standout nickel guy at the next level. He may never be a true lockdown guy because hes limited size wise, but he should still have an impact in coverage for his team. His ability as a cover corner and speed have ensured him of a first round selection. Hill may be the first pure corner selected in the draft.

IMO he is short at 5'10. The jets are getting bigger in the secondary. Lito and Strickland were 5'10.. that didnt workout to well.

Strickland was great. He just couldn't stay healthy. Same with lito, although he did get raped by peyton it's not like being 5'11"(Revis's height) would even matter at all).

Tye Hill was a very poor player with rams and couldnt even get quality playing time with the Falcons when their secondary was terrible.

Would rather draft a young guy then bring in a vet who we know is a below average player.

Worth a look as a nickel corner considering the position the Jets are in this off season being handcuffed and whatnot.

Why did the jets sign 6'2 CB Cromartie? and another BIG SAFETY 6'2 POOL??? just saying!!! I really think the jets are going to draft another Big CB too.. 5'11 or 6'0+ i hope.

eh.....a one year minimum deal with no signing bonus to see if he's got anything can't hurt. if he stinks, the jets can cut him. if he gets a bigger offer, then move on to the next guy.

5'10" is a good height for a CB, typically tall guys don't have the bend or change of direction skills a slightly smaller guy has.

Anther former first round pick on the streets, the draft is such a crapshoot.

:huh:He's an inch shorter than Revis.

    Strickland couldn't stay healthy.

Jets tendered Drew Coleman who is 5' 9".

If he can play do you really think Rex and the CS are going to say, "nah, he's too short"....They may say he stinks and can't play but not due to only being 5'10"

 Pool is an inch shorter than Rhodes.

Cromartie was acquired because he can play man to man defense like Rex likes to play.
