1) they got burnt

Tuna stays away from first round WR because of Keyshawn.
Andy Reid doesn't want to take a defensive end because of Jerome McDougle getting shot. He probably wont take a guard in round 1 any time soon because of Shawn Andrews.

    2) not valuing certain position from a salary cap (money) perspective.
Please tell me this really isn't your logic...

historically, Pats dont value LB, Eagles dont value LBs, Jets dont value WR. Many teams dont value OG as highly as others. many GM wont take a first round safety on principle

Can teams go away from their history or bad experience, yes but it has to be just the right player.
So the Bills won't draft an offensive tackle in the first round because Mike Williams busted a few years ago?

The Lions, using your logic, never would have drafted Matthew Stafford because of the Joey Harrington disaster.

What's your point with Keyshawn and Parcells? Parcells brought Keyshawn to Dallas after coaching him in NY, I don't know where you're going with that?

No thanks on the pats emulating the jets.

if anything they will trade down again.

Why would you trad two top 50 picks for a guy that may just be a 3rd down back?

The way you got the draft board going, The pats moving down to ST Louis
for them to pick up Dan Williams. To team up along side Long, Carriker.
The pats trade 22, and A Thomas who will be a better fit in Spagnola attacking D, for 33 & 65. Thomas will be a big upgrade over Vrooba. Or the same trade with NO, only for Earl Thomas and thesaints need to repalce both Scot Shanlee and Scott Fujita.

At 33 you have Hughes, Sapp, Pouncey, Oldrick still on board plus the 2nd that you would see the pats trade away plus whatever they get for trading down 8-10 spots.

it doesn't carry across front office regimes. the current buffalo front office has no ties to the Mike Williams debacle. Matt Millen was s-canned and then they drafted a QB. Guys for wahtever reason get gunshy

even Andy Reid, all mock drafts had him taking a DE, what did he do but trade for Tapp and sign him long term

and its not a hard and fast rule just a guideline or trend

i also think some GMs are more comfortable scouting certain positions than others... and they dont really rely on the scouts to make the decisions...

Very simple, the Pats formula of constantly trading down has not worked well at all. The Jets formula of trading up has worked very well. There is pretty well no disputing that at all. As for the player, the Pats have pretty well done without a real weapon as a back for a while. Faulk is almost done, the array of old and recycled backs have been mediocre at best. Welker may not be back to start next season and who knows if he is the same player when he does come back. There are tons of good players in this draft so they could very well stay put and take what they get but if they want to get one of the higher tier players ie top 12-15 they have to move up.

23 - Green Bay Packers: Earl Thomas, S
The Packers watched with dismay as most of the top rated o-lineman went before their pick. Atari Bigby gets hurt a lot and Nick Collins is an on again off again player.
I thought this was funny just because they just signed Nick Collins to some mega contract....

I would be shocked if neither Suh, or Mccoy didn't get picked in the top 3 picks. But Overall really liked the mock. Love any mock with comments after each pick

The pats have been trading down for ten years and getting more picks. and it has served them well for ten years. The pats had the 10 best running game in the NFL last year while being a passing team. Light and Neal being out 1/2 the year had a great effect onthe game. Is there room for improvement you bet. But to trade two top 50 picks in a deep draft for a 190 lb scatback is not the way to go.

You say emulate the jets, are the jets the only team that trades up, they are teams that trade up besides the jets. the jets hit big on Revis and Harris, so does that mean you break up what you stop what you have been doing for ten years because one team that trades up had some some success for a couple of years, if the jets trade up this year and dont hit, do the pats go back to picking up more picks?

I believe Pats are staying put and getting BPA with their first 4 picks.

Let's hope BB has changed his mentality of trading out to grab depth players.

Let's hope BB ends his streak of mediocre drafting. My fingers are crossed.:P
