DL Al Woods on the rise
LSU defensive tackle Al Woods is one of the fastest rising draft prospects with some NFL teams projecting him as a second round or third-round target.
Woods has conducted private workouts for the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos, according to a source close to the program with knowledge of the situation.
The 6-foot-4, 309-pounder has run the 40-yard dash under 5.0 seconds and posted a 37-inch vertical leap. The vertical leap is extremely explosive for a lineman as big as Woods.
Regarded highly for his athleticism, Woods is known for being coachable, unselfish and hard-working.
Woods started just one season for the Tigers after playing behind Glenn Dorsey, Tyson Jackson, Ricky Jean-Francois and Marlon Favorite, improving his conditioning heading into his senior year.
He registered 33 tackles, 5 1/2 for losses and one sack last season.
Woods bench pressed 225 pounds just 23 times, but his strength is in his legs and he was an anchor for the LSU front seven.
Might be worth a flyer in the middle-late rounds, really had a lot of potential that was derailed by injuries. Might be a better pro than college player.
