Ham, what I loved about that was Cervelli waving his glove down like get it down, get it down...and Berkman bit.
were you guys watching the same game? lol... i thought he went around, when he did it live and on the replay he definitely went around half way, I don't know what this whole selling thing you think the Yankees tried to do? Cervelli knew he went around and wanted the call like all the other Yankees.
CC stays #1 because he was lights out in 2009 (regular season and post) and he's still the staff ace, Burnett was more hit & miss (regular season and post) and still is, and obviously Pettitte's post season resume speaks for itself.
Reason I put Hughes #2 is to break up the lefties so the opposition gets a different look every nite.
They won't go with Hughes as game 2 starter, because he has a innings limit and it means he will have to be used more. They will go with the top 3 that lead them to a WS title last year.
I really don't trust Vazquez in a big game though.
Hughes has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the American league this year, a legit Cy Young candidate.
IMO a reluctance to start him in GM 2 because he's still a relative novice would have been like saying we're not gonna start Ron Guidry at fenway in the one game playoff because despite his overall dominance he's still the neophyte of the staff, so we'll give the ball to Ed Figueroa or Dick Tidrow instead.
Are you talking about '78? When both pitchers had 20+ win seasons?
