Ham, what I loved about that was Cervelli waving his glove down like get it down, get it down...and Berkman bit.

were you guys watching the same game? lol... i thought he went around, when he did it live and on the replay he definitely went around half way, I don't know what this whole selling thing you think the Yankees tried to do? Cervelli knew he went around and wanted the call like all the other Yankees.

Okay. it's the 7th inning and the yankees are winning 9 to 3. If I'm Girardi I would let Vazquez finish this game. Give the bullpen a break today.

Vazquez going to be 6-5 now if they hold onto a 9-3 lead.

at least I can say it looks like I was right about Vasquez

He is going to be a very solid #4 starter

I see him as our 5th starter. If the postseason started today, here is our rotation:

    Game 1: Sabathia
    Game 2: Burnett
    Game 3: Pettitte
    Game 4: Hughes

    GM 1. Sabathia (L)
    GM 2. Hughes (R)
    GM 3. Pettitte (L)
    GM 4. Burnett (R)

CC stays #1 because he was lights out in 2009 (regular season and post) and he's still the staff ace, Burnett was more hit & miss (regular season and post) and still is, and obviously Pettitte's post season resume speaks for itself.

Reason I put Hughes #2 is to break up the lefties so the opposition gets a different look every nite.
They won't go with Hughes as game 2 starter, because he has a innings limit and it means he will have to be used more. They will go with the top 3 that lead them to a WS title last year.

I really don't trust Vazquez in a big game though.

IMO a reluctance to start him in GM 2 because he's still a relative novice would have been like saying we're not gonna start Ron Guidry at fenway in the one game playoff because despite his overall dominance he's still the neophyte of the staff, so we'll give the ball to Ed Figueroa or Dick Tidrow instead.
Are you talking about '78? When both pitchers had 20+ win seasons?

Once the post season starts you throw innings limits out the window. Cashman has said as much in the past.

We'll see if that's true by the time the playoffs start, because some reason I remember last year them saying that the innings limit will be for playoffs also.

I am pretty certain that if we get to the playoffs the rotation set up would be game 1-Sabathia game 2-Burnett game 3-Pettitte game 4-Hughes

Chances are Hughes is going to slow down as the season goes on.

look what happened to Joba last year, even though Joba wasn't pitching on the same level as Hughes
