Why isnt the QB position making us fans lose sleep?

    This I dont understand.

With an improved offense (upgrades at WR and RB), and an offseason where every coach said he lived in the film room, this shouldnt worry you.

BAD STATS IN ROOKIE SEASON (ESP. POOR VS. ROTTEN BILLS)

He was a rookie....look what he did in playoffs.

BACKUP CANNOT WIN IF NEEDED (IS OUR BACKUP BETTER THAN THE PATS?)

Starting QB going down is an issue for 99% of the teams in the league, its not something we can worry about. If our backup has to play, we need 150 yds rushing and a great defensive effort....both of which we can accomplish.

MAY NEVER GET ON SAME PAGE WITH SANTONIO (4 GAMES LOST AT START)

Nitpicking....minicamp, traning camp, and 13 weeks of pratctice and games, more then enough.

NO TRUE DEEP THREAT (THE FIELD HAS TO BE STRETCHED - SORRY)

Dropping that beautiful pass in the playoffs was awful, but Braylon is 100% a legit deep threat at all times and will stretch the field.

    NO RELIABLE DEEP THREAT

    Braylon and Santonio????

BY "PROTECTING" SANCHEZ, SCHOTTS MAY COST HIMSELF A HC JOB. BY "DEVELOPING" SANCHEZ, SCHOTTS MAY COST US A SB SHOT

The offense will be opened up this year, but yes, Schot needs to keep it simple, run the ball, with occasional vertical throw.

Sanchez played like a veteran in the playoffs. You should be excited because he's only going to get better. If he plays like he played in the playoffs this past year, the New York Jets are going to be a force in the AFC.

Then don't yell at us Derwood, I hate Gomers that type in all capital letters, ought to be a law.

QB position is a bit of a worry but with all the talent on offense (Greene running, LT out of backfield, deep threat with Braylon (if he doesn't drop it!) and Keller as much more than a safety valve Sanchez should be fine.

Your theories are off the wall. We have two deep threats and one guy dropped all of 4 p-asses last year for us. WOW!! Santonio will have even more time to learn our offense! Schotty will get a HC job next year AFTER we tear up the NFL. Dilfer relied on a great defense in order to win. We have a great defense. First of all I expect SANCHEZ to be great this year. Secondly, I have faith in whoever REX & Schotty put in should he get a bit banged up. Ya gotta have faith and stop with the Doom & Gloom. There is a new era in NY and the Jets are no longer SOJ!

What's more likely to happen, a QB that gets better in his 2nd season? or a QB who gets worse? Rookies generally have bad stats. You would have given up on Elway and Aikman because of their rookie seasons, too. Sanchez may turn out to be a flop. But he certainly looked okay in the playoffs

What QB should the Jets have gotten? Last year and this year?

May never get on same page as Santonio... Uhh, okay. That's a possiblity, who do you think the Jets should have at WR instead of Holmes. Holmes, Edwards, and Cotch at #3, I think that's pretty good for 12 games. Also, Holmes can practice in pre-season, so he'll build a relationship, he just can't when the regular season starts (someone can correct if I'm wrong)

No true deep threat, no reliable deep threat. Isn't that the same thing. Isn't that what Holmes is. How many teams have a "reliable deep threat"?

I do wish the Jets had a better backup. But it's tough to get a starting quality player to play backup, especially since the Jets couldn't sign anyone in FA.

Every football team has holes, including the Saints. The Jets biggest question mark is at QB. If Sanchez is a flop, than the Jets are in trouble. But, when Sanchez played well, or even average, the Jets were a great football team. Most QB's who start as a rookie do get better the next season. (There are exceptions, usually with players who don't work as hard - Leaf, Russell, etc)

Sanchez was 3 steps below abysmal last season during the regular season.During the playoff run he grew in to an quite capable NFL QB.Logic tells us that he should only get better and IMHO he will. All Schotty needs to due is follow last year's blueprint which is run the ball 75% of the time and let the Sanchez find the open guy.

I am very excited and optimistic :D

I just dont like all of the If's - and there are alot of them - like ALOT.

PS - I wish Clowney was a "Dedric Ward" - but he isnt.

it's hard to discuss such a completely moronic thread "civilly"

but I'll try as civilly as possible.....

2 things of note and i know the two qb's are very different but flacco went deep in the playoffs his rookie year, who had the better numbers. sanchez did not look anything like a rookie in the three playoff games. I am not sure how flacco looked but i don't think he was sharp as sanchez and i know he wasnt asked to do a whole lot either.

secondly, if that td to braylon in the championship game did not give you hope, i don't know what will. thats what helps me sleep at night (keeping this only to football(, the thought of that ability and throw...

    They should start Clemens.

The Jets should have never let go of Chad Pennington!
