    Exclamation Yanks deadline additions: Berkman-Kearns-Wood

Hearing Berkman deal from #Astros to Yankees is on verge of completion
Now we know why he's not in the Astros lineup tonight.

Heard this: The Yankees' talks for Lance Berkman are advancing, quickly.

Hearing Juan Miranda is in the deal, that explains Colin Curtis being tonight's DH

  4. #4
If Miranda is the main guy we give up that would be awesome, hopefully its not too much.

Berkman should give us a boost in the lineup, hes a patient hitter and switch hitter, should be a nice fit.

Heard this: The Steinbrenners have given pre-approval to the acquisition of a large salary such as Lance Berkman or Adam Dunn. #trades

    yankees-berkman in serious talks

Get it done and get him in the lineup tomorrow for this series.

Source: Yankees deal for Berkman is "imminent" - won't be giving up any big prospects, but will take on his contract. He'll be the new DH.

Considering what it sounds like Cashman is giving up and the boost we get in the DH position from what we've currently been fielding, this is a great move for us.

    trade compensation from rotoworld

According to Alyson Footer, one condition Lance Berkman has in trade talks is that a team doesn't pick up his $15 million option for 2011.
Not that any team was going to pick it up anyway, but it's still interesting. Berkman apparently likes the idea of spending the final two months of this season with a contender and then potentially returning to Houston in the offseason. The Yankees are on the verge of wrapping up a deal to bring Berkman in as their new DH. There's been little word on who might go to Houston, but Frankie Piliere is saying he's heard the names of Ivan Nova and David Adams come up.

If the main part of the deal really is Miranda, this is a great move by cashman. I woulda loved to have seen Dunn hitting behind Cano at Yankee Stadium but Berkman is another 25-30 HR type guy whose also a switch hitter that the Yanks can pair with Swish Posada and Tex, perfect DH who gives us depth at 1B and even the OF

    Nice move cash

Good because there was noway the Yankees were picking his option up anyways.

Astros indeed expected to get non-prospect minor-leaguer(s) and payroll relief from #Yankees in return for Berkman.
    Classic salary dump.

If Miranda is the man in the deal, this is a pretty sweet trade. Berkman will do well in YS.

Where does he fit in the lineup?

    Jeter
    Swisher
    Tex
    A-Rod
    Cano
    Berkman
    Posada
    Granderson
    Gardner

Either 6 or 7. My guess would be 6.

    Sounds about right.

    Swisher, Tex, Berkman, Posada

    4 switch hitters.

You think that Berkman can still play some OF?
