You are correct, an automatic will stay (relatively) wound through motion. Nothing wrong with a high-end quartz like the first Seamaster I posted, though. What do you have in mind, if you don't mind my asking?

Tag Aquaracers. Can't decide on a white, silver, or blue face; the more polished steel, the better; no chronograph. I don't like the colored bezels as they look too sporty (what I have now). Also, don't like gold on the bad or face.

An Aquaracer is going to look sporty no matter what because it has a dive bezel. That said, if you go with a silver dial it should be OK for all occasions. Look for something with the Caliber 5 movement, silver dial. Most Tags I see come in brushed SS, not polished. You can have them polished or even do it yourself with a Cape Cod cloth.

If it is a high shine you really want, I suggest that you take another look at Breitling. In very fine used condition you can come in at the higher end of your price range. Another option, though also brushed, is an Omega Aqua Terra (older version without the "teck" dial). It comes with a shiny, plain bezel, in full and mid-size, auto or quartz and dials of blue, black, silver and white.

Here is a reputable seller offering a used silver quartz for $850, just to give you an idea:

Here's one of the ones I was looking at: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000E3XL2C/ref=asc_df_B000E3XL2C1192149?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=pg-1005-01-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B000E3XL2C

I wanted to stick with Tag since I had such a good previous experience, especially the abuse they seem to be able to handle.

It's a good-looking watch, and blue goes with everything. Bear in mind that at 38mm it is considered full-size, but with a dive bezel the dial is smaller, so the watch has a smaller presence on the wrist. If you have anything less than a 7.5" wrist it should be fine.

Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have. Keep me up to date with your decision and good luck! :D
The ones I like are between $900.00 and $1300.00. Too much?

Most expensive watch I've ever owned is/was a $600.00 Tag. Part of me feels guilty.

    Need some input...
I have a good friend of mine in No. Virginia that buys/sells/repairs Rolexes. It may be more than you want to spend but sometimes he has some really good deals. If you're interested PM me and I'll give you his contact info. This is on the up and up or I wouldn't post it.

That's a great idea. That way, I don't have to use my Boggle timer anymore...
