    Wilpons Silent Partner!

Wilpon needed Big $$$$ to buy out Nelson Doubleday in 2001 so he went to his old buddy Bernie Madoff to help fund the closing of the deal.

So the Bad Karma of this corrupt $$$ has Returned to Freddy & Jeff

The Mets would have No Luck if not for Bad luck!

Jason Bay hurt,John Maine's shoulder,Beltran's knee,& lets not forget Danny Murphy.

Thrown in Omars great contracts for Castillo & Perez.

This organization has made one playoff in 2006 since they took over even they are 3rd in salary. They are the Drunken sailors of MLB

Do you have a link to back up these claims?

I believe the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs and Phillies all have a larger payroll than the Mets do.

lol. Weren't they 2nd in the previous two seasons, along with 3rd three years ago?

The Phillies & Sox jumped dramatically this season. That's the only reason the Mets aren't in the top 3...

    That is probably true.

But the Mets have also dropped from 149 to 126. Which makes the drunkin' sailor comparison wrong. The Mets canít Ďunspendí what they have already guaranteed.

    The real Mets questions are:

Will the Mets 2011 budget be 126 or 149?
    Or more?
    Or Less?

Depends on if they want a bidding war over Cliff Lee...

Probably closer to 130 then 150. I think the 2009 payroll was special circumstances because of the new ballpark.

How about releasing Beltran(Great Player) but past his prime + injuries possible DH in American League. There must be one or two others they can let go and swallow their contracts.

Why release him if he can still play?

If they cut Beltran they will be on the hook for his salary minus the league minimum (someone else will most likely lay that out and give him a shot) and they will have to play Francoeur. And I will have to watch him swing at pitches in the dirt or a foot outside.

It is better to let Beltran play and hope he starts hitting like it is 2006 again

The Mets have to start scuttling some of the older players and the riff raff sooner or later. Why not now. Beltran is a very good player but unfortunately he is getting older and coming off a major knee injury! Better DH. They have to start rebuilding. Maybe they can clone Santana?

He has a no trade clause, is due 18.5 million next year, and has a bad knee. There's pretty much no trade market for him. That's why. All the reasons you want to trade him are why he has no trade value.

Might as well keep him around and hope the bat heats up at least.

My link is to inside Mets employees that last week loaded 150 boxes of files
marked Madoff shipped to Iron mountain.
Not all truth can be found on the internet

Does MLB allow "Silent Partners" in their ownership?

When Federal prosecutors were tearing apart Madoff's personal finances would an ownership stake in the Mets have been missed?

The Fed still cant find Bin Laden in the hills of Afganistan
Madoffs wife was shipping jewels & artwork out of town for weeks & nobody stopped her.
Madoff has hidden $$$ in swedish & russian accounts that nobody has found yet! Dont underestimate Bernie the guy had it all planned.
100 Mets employees are Sueing Sterling Mets for overinvesting 80% of their 401k in Madoffs stock.
Thats Why Jeff sent all madoff files to iron mt. to be shredded
