Gotta love conspiracy theorists. I know about 7 people who I would rely upon to keep what I ate for lunch under confidence, so it must be really easy to coordinate large organizations. I particularly LOLed at the Cleveland Cavs tanking games to get Lebron being proof that the 1998 title game was fixed.

    Bleacher Report?

Why is anyone allowed to post anything from the Bleacher Report?

Why don't we just start threads based on posts made on JN & TGG??

Well Fox Sports had something too. I think its silly but when 3 or 4 media outlets report it, it makes you think.

Rather than shoot the messenger, maybe everyone can read the article and discuss its on its merits?

    NO it doesn't.

Your link is to a blog post by some annonymous guy named "Jesus2" on a Fox Sports COMMUNITY website which is nothing more than a fan message board.

    Terrible job by you.

And, no, 3 or 4 "media outlets" aren't report it. It's 2 fan message boards, Bleacher Report and Fox Sports Community. Well, if you include JI because of this asinine thread as a "media outlet" then you have 3.

Yeah, I heard Weeb Ewbank hired this guy to use one of those newfangled 8mm cameras to film Don Shula's defensive signals. The kid was some hoodie-wearing sh*tbag who had just graduated from Wesleyan.....

As I say, personally I don't believe it but the evidence is mounting.

Quote: "If one examines the game, Smith's belief seems to be proven as huge question marks surround both Colts' QB Earl Morrell's play and Colts' Head Coach Don Shula's decisions."

I've watched the original NBC broadcast of Super Bowl III once a year since 1988. Here are the facts:

    Earl Morrell's play:

In the first half, he drove them up and down the field with ease. Once in the red zone, drops by the WR's, tipped balls, and strong DB play were the culprits. Tom Mitchell missed an easy TD catch, and what should have been the first Colts TD of the game on the opening drive bounced off of his chest right into Randy Beverley's hands. The Colts missed two FG's early too, hurting their momentum.

The most famous Morrell miscue is the Jimmy Orr Wide Open play, but God was on the Jets side. I swear, the bright Miami sun only appeared ONE time the entire game. It was cloudy and overcast the whole time. That one instant that the sun appeared? Right in Earl Morrell's face as he was looking downfield for Jimmy Orr. If you have a copy of the NBC video, watch closely. Just as the ball is snapped you can see shadows appear and the sun blaring in Morrall's eyes.

    Don Shula's Coaching:

There wasn't anything suspicious here. The Colts merely played tight and the Jets merely played flawlessly. The Colts had 4 redzone possessions in the first 20 minutes of the game and got no points. The playcalling was strong- was just the execution by the WR's and QB and the ST's that were bad. Shula went for the hail-Mary pass by bringing in Johnny Unitas in the 4th quarter. Can't say he called a bad game offensively.

On defense, well, the AFL's style of offense would test any 'standard' D of the day. Every Jets offensive player to a man felt that the way that they used misdirection would confound the Colts and that's what happened.

The Real Reason The Colts Lost:

The Jets pass rush was ferocious. The Jets running game was unstoppable. That's really all you need to win a tight football game. The Jets didn't attempt a pass in the second half. When was the last time you saw that happen? If anyone was trying to throw the game, LOL, it was our offensive coordinator, Clive Rush.
