    The Whitest kids you know....

SO, a break from the "which coach is bad" and "Why we aren't blowing people out" threads...

I thought of this last night while watching the Pats the last few weeks, and I don't think I've ever seen it questioned or discussed here, but what the hell.

Is Bellichick doing all he can to field the "Whitest" team in the NFL? Seriously, no joke. We've heard over the past decade how Bellichick is the most "detail oriented" coach in the history of the NFL and he does NOTHING without having a reason...well, is the color of his team a planned strategy?

Look at the Team, in particular the Offense of the Pats:

Brady, the QB. White Irish-Catholic dude.

Offensive Line: 5 white guys, including an immigrant from Germany (Vollmer) who didn't even get an invite to the NFL combine but was drafted in the 2nd round by the Pats.

Wide Receiver Wes Welker, whos Jersey outsold Former Pat and future HOF'er Randy Moss in New England.

Running Back: Danny Woodhead. Yeah, the kid is a decent player, but it seemed Bill Bellichick couldn't WAIT to get this 5'8 190 lb caucasian RB on his roster.

Tight End: Rob Gronkowski. Yeah, this kid is talented and came off as the typical "Jock D-Bag" that would fit right in with Brady and was taken in the second round.....which leads us to - Aaron Hernandez. Another TE taken in the same draft as Gronkowski. Really, Bill? Are you looking to corner the market on light skinned receivers? To be honest, I'm a bit surprised Bill didn't find a way to get Toby Gerhardt on the team.

Look, New England and Boston in particular have a certain "noteriety" for issues with race relations, and I'm wondering if this roster development is a subtle but planned thing. Look at the Celtics of the 80's, the "Larry Bird Celtics", or as it was known, the "White NBA team". Boston PRIDED itself on the fact that it had a "WHite" NBA team - arguing otherwise is just nuts.

Even a few years ago, who were the "Faces" of New England Football - Brady, Bruschi, and Vrable. Hmmm.

I lived in Boston and (as a white Irish guy) will flat out say that the most casually racist people I have ever been around are guys from New England, particularly Irish and Italians. Its a whole different level up in Boston, even more so than anything I ever saw in NYC.

So, is it a planned thing? A bizarre "happenstance" in a game statistically dominated by African Americans, or something else?

The jets defense is whiter than the pats defense

I'll answer your question with a question of my own:

In a Nation with a 10-15% population of African Americans, why are 80-85% of our Pro-Athletes in the NFL/NBA African American?

What a moronic thread. Notice he didn't discuss the Patriots defense, which is if I remember correctly, 90% black.

+1 It is pretty racist to look at it that way, judging players/people by their skin instead of their talents. I am 100% sure that ANY successful Coach or GM in the NFL only looks at talent and not skin color, or they wouldnt be successful.

Personally, I am born and raised in Lawrence, MA (25-30 minutes north of Boston), am Italian and Irish, and was brought up to NEVER judge someone for their color, I never even notice a persons color of skin when I meet them, just the way I was raised.

The city I live in is around 85% hispanic, the mayor is hispanic, almost every one of my friends, brothers friends, girlfriends, etc. have been hispanic and no one in my family has ever had a problem with that or said to me "Hey, you ever notice that all your friends are hispanic?" Maybe some people are racist, or back in the day Boston was known as racist city, but in my 27 years of living in the area have never noticed this personally.

Infact, judging by the way you look at things, I could argue that you are one of the most racist people I have come across just by the way race plays a big part on your outlook.
