Thread: Woodhead IS an NFL Player.

  1. #1

    Woodhead IS an NFL Player.

Don't put him in Canton yet, but the kid is a legit NFL player.

    His numbers through 8 games:

312 yds rushing 5.6yd average. 217 yds rcvg, 9.8yd avg, 4 TDs, ZERO fumbles.

Shonn Greenes numbers through 10 games.

505 yds rushing 4.1 yd average, 58 yds recvg, 7.3 yd avg, 1 TD 2 fumbles.

Based on numbers only, who is having a better season?

You must not have read all the Woodhead bashing that went on here his rookie camp and even his second year coming off injury.

i'm happy for Woodhead, he worked hard and deserves to be successful.

but give it a rest with this crap. the "we should've cut McKnight" threads were dumb enough, now the "Woodhead is better than Greene" sh!t is beyond ridiculous.

Woodhead does fit nicely into NE's system with Tom Brady as his QB. It has already been discussed ad nauseam on this board, thus there really is no point in bringing it up again other than self-aggrandizement.

Well Bit didn't like him so that should have derailed his career right away.. :P Woodhead is doing what Leon would have loved to do until he decided he was a every down back that is..

I didn't say Woodhead is better, I'm asking which one is having a better year.

    No fears there.
but the kid is a legit NFL player.
If "legit" means he is performing well as a desperation fill-in for the one team ont he NFL who would use him "correctly" for his skillset, then yes, he is "legit".

Based on numbers only, Woodhead is.

But I have to assume that you're not trying to claim Woodhead would, if still a Jet, be "better" than Greene, are you?

Lets try and be just a little objective here. Woodhead was given opportunity, and he failed to beat out L.T., Greene. He lacks (in our teams view) the long-term upside of McKnight (questionble, but understandable).

As such, on our team, Woodheads numbers would be:

0 yds rushing 0.0yd average. 0 yds rcvg, 0.0yd avg, 0 TDs, 0 fumbles, 25 tackles (special teams).

So if you're just saying Woodhead is doing well in the only spot in the NFL that gave him a chance to do well, you're right. Good for him (till he plays us).

But if you're trying to make any greater claim here, any "Woodhead > Greene on the Jets", your argument is making alot of rather large and unproven/unprovable assumptions.

How is Greene having a better year, based on the numbers? Greene may be a better player, but Woodhead seems to be having a better year.

with brady in that offense, most rbs would put up nice stats. they spread defenses out with all those tes and wrs, that there will be room for quick rbs to find holes. over the past decade, NE has crapped on defenses no matter who the wrs/tes/rbs have been. even when brady got hurt, cassell had a sick year.

i'm happy for woodhead, but this situation is unique in the nfl b/c you have the reincarnation of kurt warner's offense in NE so any rb who has a juke will look good. that's why the team doesn't need randy moss. they just need 5 guys out there who can catch short passes. it spreads defenses out and allows anyone to make a big play.

It's just interesting that given the opportunity, he as nice numbers. Some people get an opportunity and don't produce, ala Lamont Jordan in Oakland.
Plus ZERO fumbles and 4 TDs. That is a great ratio for a big guy, let alone a "midget".

Doesn't matter. A football player is measured by his SIZE.

    Go ask Big Junk.

It's great that Woodhead has found a team with a system that can use his skillsets to the max and use him properly.

The bad news is its the team that we are in direct competition with for the division, conference, and championship.

I'm spotting Woodhead a couple of inches for zero fumbles and 4 TDs.

You have to disregard any stats coming out of NE. BB gets the most of his players, and he only goes after certain types of players. Saying Woodhead is a good nfl player, is like saying Austin Collie is a top 10 receiver.

Woodhead on another team is poo. Collie on another team is poo.

He goes after guys who will listen to anything he says and buy into the "patriot mindset"

He often chooses "his guys" over guys with talent. Woodhead is not a good player but does what BB wants him to.

I wish BB had more not good players.
