    Cromartie Trade

I know we are midseason, but does anyone know the status of the Cromartie trade?

If I remember correctly, the trade was for a 3rd rounder this coming year, with escalators based on player/team performance. Have we reached any of those? Do we owe SD a 2nd rounder now?

If we don't end up having to give up the 2nd I'd be pleasantly amazed.

The specific escalators were never specified, except that they were related to playing time and team performance. Long story short, we don't know.

My understanding is if the Jets make it to the Super Bowl, the 3rd rounder becomes a 2nd rounder.

it was posted somewhere that winning the AFC East also promoted it to a 2nd rounder. so maybe there's an upside into last night's brutal loss.

Conditional trades are usually based on playing time and performance.
Due to the wide range of values in a given round teams like to protect themselves. The jets protected them selves by giving up a 2nd rounder only if they make the playoffs (imo) and he plays a certain # of starts. If calamity struck and a bunch of jets got injured and the jets finished in the top ten of the 2nd rd no matter if Cro started and performed well the Chargers will only get the jets 3rd.

I never heard of a trade that it only became a 2nd if the team won the division or went to the superbowl. As that pretty much states that there is only a 3rd rd value with very little chance of a 2nd.

The Farve trade was for a forth, conditional to a third based on snaps, then to a 2nd for snaps and playoffs and a one if the jets went to the superbowl. Not just from on rd to another.

The trade for Cro was just one stage a 3rd to a 2nd. IMO only getting a 2nd if the jets went to the SB is not a large increase in value to the Chargers. Going into the season The jets were thought of a shoo-ins for the playoffs but there were concerns about Cro staying healthy-which thankfully he has been. The jets protected themselves from having to give up a high 2nd if they did not make the playoffs and Cro did not stay on the field. The jets and cro most likely will do both.

Except bit never said SB, he said the AFC East which wasn't considered a crazy longshot. Though now... yea this team has been a fail.
