bad news for Heyward, good news for the Jets... still there's alot of 3-4 teams at the end of round 1 looking for help...

Agreed when I think of a OSU DL I think of Vernon GHolston... even though we have 2 great OSU players on our team in Holmes and Mangold..

Not even close, they'd be lucky if he fell to our pick in Round 1.

3 months would put him healthy in plenty of time for Training Camp (If training camp even begins on time, that is), and judging by Demaryius Thomas and Jonathan Stewart, an injury that doesn't endanger the 2011 season isn't enough to knock you out of Round 1 (Different injuries, I know, but I think the important thing is the recovery timeline, not the actual injury itself).

The bigger concern among teams would be being out for the next 3 months means they can't put the player through the rigors of the draft process, they can't work him out, they can't get combine times, they're only going on interviews, medical charts, and game film. Which may scare a couple teams off.

spoke with Heyward an hour ago- here's in Mobile to make the rounds....nice, respectful kid...big dude...

really didn't need to have the surgery but felt it would hasten the recovery process....

I had a feeling this was the case...more and more athletes nowadays attack possible physical weaknesses before they become a big deal with surgery...we saw it just with our QB...Sanchez's knee surgery last year and this year he might have a minor shoulder operation...I like the plan.

I didn't see a weigh in for Heyward...did he participate and how'd he do?

I watched a video of him during a game against Oregon, he does look pretty good... But it was only 1 game, I liked how active he was... Also saw the play where he dropped back into coverage and had a 80 yard INT against Miami.. He seems like a guy that would be a great replacement for Shaun Ellis. Someone who can play everywhere on the line..

Given the his performance at the Senior Bowl practices, does anyone think Heyward is a better prospect than Jordan? Do you think he would have lit it up like Jordan? Honest question, not rhetorical.
