Considering he's been getting talk of the Chiefs at 21 since January, Taylor looks more like a steal at 30.
Plus, it's not like the Jets could take Taylor in the 2nd because they have no second. So it's 30th overall or nothing.

If the Jets like Taylor more than other prospects then he's going to be the 30th pick regardless if he's not a low 1st round grade.

I think the drafniks are too used to the Jets drafting in the top 15. The Jets are a good team now and will be drafting in the high 20s from here on out. The draft rarely has more than 20+ players with 1st round grades.

since we turned this into a Phil Taylor love fest

are you guys just completely dismissing his feet rumor?

not even 1% chance he has bad feet?

On if the Jets would hesitate to take Baylor DT Phil Taylor due to the condition of his feet...

CLINKSCALES: He probably does have some feet issues. I get if you're talking about a guy that was once 380 pounds, 335 pound pounds now. He's a good player, strong, physical. He's been at Baylor a couple of years, after Penn State. He's a good football player. I don't think in the long term, if you're looking throughout a contract, the feet would be a big issue. But again, you're looking for a guy that can help you now. He and many others have a chance to do that.

    Cmon man.

That was the definition of a draft day designed rumpor initiated to get someone to fall.

It is 2011 how many conditions are "inoperable" this day and age?

Further evidence that it was complete bs....

Baylor NT Phil Taylor was given a clean bill of health by 49ers team doctors after undergoing X-rays and examinations last week."That report came out of left field," Taylor said. "I haven't had any pain in my foot. There's nothing wrong with it. And those [49ers'] doctors confirmed that, so now nobody should have any questions about it."

Hello, it's the 30th pick. It's the equivelent of a high 2nd rounder.

If a player had no question marks or red flags he'd be in the top 15. That's what bottom of the 1st round players are.

The San Francisco Chronicle isn't buying reports that Colorado CB Jimmy Smith could be on the Raiders' radar if they succeed in trading up to the first round.

NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora suggested that Smith is a "hot commodity," and Michael Lombardi says the Raiders are one of the teams on the chase. According to beat writer Vittorio Tafur, owner Al Davis now has a much lower tolerance for character risks, and Smith could be off the Raiders' board. "I decided that we no longer as an organization can fight the battle of personal problems for certain players," Davis announced back in January. Apr. 28 - 3:00 pm et

    Really? At this late hour?

I would hope this would have been all taken care of by now and the board set with the player rankings, order and preferance.

Maybe Rex is afraid Taylor cleans out the buffet and steals all of his snacks..

    I would say this echo's cbtny's report...

Jets coach Rex Ryan is reportedly making a "big push" for Arizona DE/OLB Brooks Reed with the 30th pick in the draft.

How many games has he missed to his feet?

The next day there were reports that it was pretty bs...Your boy Joey Clinks said he probably does, but only naturally so because he was a heavy man on his feet often. He's still a heavy guy, but he'll probably play his rookie season at 335...which is 50 pounds less than he used to.

    It's insignificant.

Which means their draft board probably has other players ahead of him and expected to be available at #30.

F'off Rex, you coach let the scouts and gm do their job. Tell them what positions you want to upgrade and let them go at it.

It also says Jimmy Smith... That was conveniently left out.

Rex can have Reed if he falls to the third (trade up), as unpossible as that may seem. Similar to Greene in the year of the Gilbert. IIRC they supposedly were thinking of Greene in the first too...maybe.
