    Talent level vs Positional availability

I've only really followed the NFL draft for about 4 years, and in none of those years was there the incredible imbalance of talent that we see this year. It seems reasonable from what Ive read that 30 defensive linemen rank amongst the drafts top 100 prospects.

My question to those who have seen something like this before: Does this mean that 30 DL will legitimately be picked in the first 3 rounds, or does it mean that we should see major talent with our 3rd and 4th rounders?

I ask this because I see Brooks Reed/Phil Taylor being mentioned as a 1st in another thread, and even if there talent warrants the pick I cant see the volume of DL going off the board to lead to them getting selected.

This is true and I try to bring it up multiple times when people are freaking out that so and so will not be there in the round X. Every year this happens (and this is when we don't have a ridiculously deep DL class like this year), and like clockwork some prospects that we imagined we'd never get a shot at fall in the draft. (i.e. Atabya Rubin (sp?) being taken in the 5th when people were clamoring to take him with our 2nd)

Guys will fall and guys will rise...there's still two months and a whole combine to get through...there's at least a couple guys the first round talk is absolute bs for...but then again maybe not...plus there's alot of forgotten prospects.

there are 17/18 d-linemen with first round talent...that leaves out guys like nevis/paea...

there are some terrific players later on (brandon bair/oregon)....1/3 of the top 100 seems excessive but i can see close to 25 d-linemen going top 100...

Very true, plenty of time. Good to know that our talent evaluators already scouring the college talent far and wide to replenish our stocks come the draft. Looks like we'll get a fair chance at some good DL prospects
