They were spreading the good word of the Lord around the world.

Apparently, that part of the world doesn't want to listen.

What angers me the most is the wasted resources that are needed to rescue these folks when they should not have been where they were. The 14 year old girl who tried to sail around the world by herself last year is another example. From someone doing something stupid, time, money and resources get wasted on saving these folks!!

With whose funds did they sail around the world? If they were passing bibles, and spreading the word of god, did they use Church funds, or their own funds? Just a question I was wondering.

So here's a timeline for all those who haven't put it together:

    Ship hijacked.

    U.S. Warship moves into position

Pirates have a "domestic" about what to do. 2 pirates killed by the others at some point. Before or after two steps.

Fire an RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) at the Warship that just flurries away like a bottle rocket.

    Shot hostages in panic

U.S. boards ship. Shoots 1 pirate, stabs and kills second (??????? this must have been awesome - I'm thinking they went to flex cuff the pirate and he resisted), the rest surrender, find 4 hostages just shot, but couldn't save them.

Stabbed pirate wasn't really all that dead, bites Navy Seal in the leg as a final act of defiance, gets shot in the head and dies for realz this time.

Bitten Navy Seal develops a "mysterious fever" and starts feeling awfully hungry for human brains.

    Zombie apocalypse begins...

The yacht was seized by the pirates off the country of Oman. That is a significant distance from Somalia. These pirates are now moving over a 1000 mies from their home bases.
We have satellites that should be able to monitor naval traffic out of Somalian ports. When they leave dispatch a carrier based F18 to sink them. Boat travels 30 MPH. F18 travel 1800 MPH. Intercept and destroy anything leaving until the country polices itself.
Or you can always mine the ports. Easy to do with aircraft.
Of course, it is first necessary to have a president who can actually not be paralyzed by indecision.

Why would you even go into the Arabian Sea on a yacht??????? OBTW the piracy has been up and down the West African coast and has been going on since the civil war began.

If you're sailing from India or visiting the UAE, Dubai (pretty nice place) you have to go through the Arabian Sea. Even if you stay 500-800 miles off the coast of Africa you could face a problem. People should exercise more caution BUT the nations of the world need to say enough.

Yes, our F18s should be used to bomb any boat leaving that country.

You need to cook your chicken thoroughly, even on a boat. Somalia can happen anyplace.

I don't buy it. Somalia coast isn't that big, the pirates have only so much range. It's just a colossal failure of the navies of the civilized world.

    This is a nice insult.

Not very over the top with mentions of anal cavities and such.

    Good job.

Canadians crossing the boarder on shopping trips are also a very big problem.

F18's could easily take them out on the trip between the Canadian boarder and Bangor.

Yes, the strongest Navy in the world, purveyor of the most sophisticated weaponry ever imagined, who we will desperately need in our coming conflict with North Korea--we should just disband it because we're not fully occupied with taking out a dozen tiny pirate boats off the coast of Yemen.

    Really?

It's like those worthless fire departments out in California, unable to control wildfires that are taking out hundreds of homes. Why are we paying them? Disband them all.

Was going to call him an azzclown, but thought I'd take a more subtle tone.

The best way to fight piracy is from land.

That's been true for thousands of years.
