Sen John Ensign (R-NV) to retire
Sen. John Ensign is expected to announce at an afternoon news conference in Las Vegas that he will retire rather than face a brutal 2012 re-election campaign, according to knowledgeable sources.

The Nevada Republican, who has been embattled since revealing he had an affair with the wife of a former aide, was facing a possible primary challenge from Rep. Dean Heller (R). Heller is now expected to run for the open Senate seat.

Roll Call Politics rates this race as a Tossup.
that's a seat the Democrats can win.

Nevada is a purplish state. Obama will be on the ticket, he won the state by 12%. Harry Reed still managed to win it in a very bad atmosphere for Democrats in 2010. With the said, it would of been much easier if Sen. Ensign was running.

Reid was lucky to win (or lucky people thought Sharron Angle was koo-koo). Nevada was quite a battleground a few months ago, so I'll disagree.

There is reports saying Ensign is going to resign tomorrow. The Ethics Committee is closing in on him. If he does indeed resign tomorrow, Nevada's Republican Governor gets to appoint someone to the seat. Former Nevada Sec. of State and current Congressman Dean Heller is the front runner to win the Republican nomination, he's the obvious choice to be appointed by Gov. Sandoval. Obviously this makes it tougher for any Democrat to beat a siting senator, more specifically one not named Jon Ensign.

    Sandoval?

That's the same guy that petitioned to have Yucca Mountian shut down and then when mean old Obama did it, everyone was like "WTF you pinko commie? America!! rah rah rah!!"

    Baa

    Baaaaaaa
Despite a setback from a U.S. licensing panel, opponents of a national nuclear waste repository in Nevada said they will press the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to examine new science about potential dangers stemming from erosion at the site.

Republican Gov.-elect Brian Sandoval also reaffirmed his determination to block the Yucca Mountain project and said Democratic President Barack Obama personally reassured him during a visit last month that he wont reconsider his own opposition to Yucca Mountain.

I will not consider accepting high-level nuclear waste in our state period, Sandoval said in a statement on Wednesday.
At least this Republican is having a sex scandal with a WOMAN.

Nevada people are not as party conscious. Sandoval is a Republican (elected last year). He will appoint a Repub to fill the slot. In 18 months the appointee will have either done well or not and stand on his own.

    Goodbye.

If your last name was Kennedy right-wing radio, blogs and Faux News would be busy making you a daily topic for the next 50 years but you're not so who cares?

Harry Reid won reelection b/c the person he was running against was an unqualified tea party retard that made Sarah Palin look like a genius. Maybe the Dems can pick up a seat but I doubt it.

Becoming less likely, Republicans have a good candidate who will become an incumbent when appointed and the Democrats leading candidate is this women.
