    AP

The U.N. Security Council on Thursday approved a no-fly zone over Libya and authorized "all necessary measures" to protect civilians from attacks by Moammar Gadhafi's forces.

we just voted for the resolution, hard to imagine us not playing a major role, though I very much doubt the nation of Gabon, who also voted for the rosolution, will be playing much of a role.

I could not agree more. Europe needs Libya's oil. Not us. People wonder why France has been so aggressive on this , maybe because no one depends on Libya's oil more then them. UK and France were the ones pushing this, they should take the lead.

This is a bit of news..

CAIRO—Egypt's military has begun shipping arms over the border to Libyan rebels with Washington's knowledge, U.S. and Libyan rebel officials said.

The shipments—mostly small arms such as assault rifles and ammunition—appear to be the first confirmed case of an outside government arming the rebel fighters. Those fighters have been losing ground for days in the face of a steady westward advance by forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.
The Egyptian weapons transfers began "a few days ago" and are ongoing, according to a senior U.S. official. "There's no formal U.S. policy or acknowledgement that this is going on," said the senior official. But "this is something we have knowledge of."

I think the French can manage maintaining a no fly zone. I'm not against the US providing logistical and strategic help...but I think their Mirage F1's and 2000's can handle keeping Libyan aircraft out of the no fly zone. No need for us to scramble as of yet....

Seriously though how ironic that Qaddafi was received here in Paris just months ago with all the bells and whistles of a genuine Head of State, even pitched his friggin tent on the lawns of l'Elysée. Now, we beat our chests saying he's a dictator.

I'm not against stepping in and giving the rebels some help..just uneasy since once you step in, you never know how or when you'll be able to step out.
