Three More Players the Jets Are Interested In?
BY BASSETT ON MAR 29, 2011, 9:00 AM
Stephen Franklin ILB (6-0 235lbs) Southern Illinois – A Jets team representative was present at the SIU Pro Day, the same school where Bart Scott played collegiately. Franklin is ranked as a free agent level ILB, but his athleticism, speed (4.64 40 yard dash) and gameness for big opponents and big plays might make him someone the Jets pursue as a depth player. Read an interview with him here, scouting report here.
Ray Dominguez OG (6-4 335lbs) Arkansas – Ray played collegiately as a Tackle, but projects as a Guard at the NFL level due to speed issues. While he’s quick off the snap, and has good knee bend, he can have problems keeping up with turning and dealing with pass-rushers. According to Dominguez, the Jets have shown interest in him, who of course would not the only OL from Arkansas the Jets have eyed recently. The Jets drafted seventh rounder Nate Garner in ‘08 (now with the Dolphins).
Byron Bell OT (6-5, 348lbs) New Mexico – At his size, Bell is a tackle through and through. Bell played collegiately at the LT spot, but due to his sheer size, I’d imagine he’d project to RT in most pro systems where he’d be a road-grading blocker first and where his 100 knockdown blocks as a senior would come in more effective. The Jets were on hand at his Pro Day to check out his skills, and while it sounds like it was a good day, Bell still projects to be a late rounder, potentially free agent.

dominguez and bell were posted on this forum as it was happening....were the Jets at SIU pro-day for Franklin, a solid LB prospect but not a 3-4 fit, or CB Korey Lindsay, who is a legitimate late round pick???
