Don't like gas prices?
Obama needled one questioner who asked about gas prices, now averaging close to $3.70 a gallon nationwide, and suggested that the gentleman consider getting rid of his gas-guzzling vehicle.

“If you’re complaining about the price of gas and you’re only getting 8 miles a gallon, you know,” Obama said laughingly. “You might want to think about a trade-in.”

I have never commented in a Christie thread, nor looked at one, but carry on. Such a typical reaction, spin it back.

It took all my strength not to discuss the fact that our President thought nothing of legitimizing a man know strictly for racist rabble rousing and tax evasion...oh yeah and also ruining a man's career with lies.

there's a whole exchange in the NYMEX that dictates the price of oil... remember that fellas? the free market that you all know and love?

politicians don't control the price of oil. the market forces do.

crack open a econ 101 text book this is all about supply and demand, and has nothing to do with republican or democrat.

People who have trouble making ends meet only have themselves to blame. Stop choosing to be poor, pull yourself up by your bootstraps and better yourself.

Because despite the cheerful rhetoric, people are not "equal". We're all different, and differently capable/incapable.

But we all have the same opportunity.

What we do NOT have is the same outcomes. The outcome is up to us, and our different capabillities or lack thereof.
Thu Nov 8, 2007 4:11pm EST
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton called on the Bush administration to tap into the government's emergency crude oil and heating oil reserves to boost supplies and lower prices.

"I urge the President to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and the Northeast Heating Oil Reserve to send a signal to the market and ease concerns about low crude oil stocks that are driving prices higher," Clinton said in a statement posted on Wednesday on her campaign Web site.

Former President Bill Clinton ordered the release of up to 30 million barrels from the crude oil reserve in September 2000 to boost available heating fuel supplies heading into the winter.

    last but not least lol
8/8/08
LANSING, Mich. — In a reversal, Barack Obama proposed Monday that the government sell 70 million barrels of oil from its strategic petroleum stockpile to help reduce gasoline prices.
The Democratic presidential candidate said in a major energy speech that in the short-run the move could help drive down gasoline prices that now top $4 a gallon. Previously, Obama opposed tapping into the reserve, located in caverns in Texas and Louisiana.
Past releases from the reserve have "lowered gas prices within two weeks," Obama said.

I remember when gas went over $4 under Bush.

I was lectured that we were lucky because it was still alot cheaper than the rest of the world.

So are we not lucky now?

i find nothing wrong with his response. if someone drives a car getting 8 mpg, that is laughable.

just to be clear that number 8 is so far below the mean, it is a joke.

there's only 1 car still sold that gets even close to that, it's a bugatti veyron. others in that range are aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Bentley. not exactly models owned by the poor.

Even a Caddy CTS or a Benz gets 12-16 MPG. even the least efficient pickup truck a ford 150 gets 11.

    Funniest post of the Day.

Next time Bit, when you are completely ignorant on a topic, you want want to just pass on by. If you don;t know the effect Govt. has on prices, perhaps you shouldn;t play "Mr. Strident".

What do you care, you're so rich the prices of such things mean nothing to you. And you don't have to drive anywhere anyway, so why would the opinion of a guy who doesn't have to drive just to make ends meet matter? Another case of the wealthy telling the poor to suck it up and like it?

I can't wait till all of your wealth is redistributed Bit. The rich, like you, should suffer for their abuse of the poor.;)

I wonder how many Rolls, Bentleys, and Bugattis there are in FAIRLESS HILLS, Pa, where BO gave dropped his one liners, and the average salary is a bit over 35k a year?
