Why are the Bears drafting ahead of the Jets?

Both teams finished the regular season with identical records.

Both teams made it to the Championship rounds of the playoffs and lost.

Bears had a higher playoff seed.

Bears beat the Jets head to head.

    What am I missing here?

It seems to me that based on the above the Jets should be picking ahead of the Bears.

I'd like to think I'm pretty knowledgable about NFL rules....but this one has got me stumped

Must be one of these as they had the same record.

Strength of schedule for the previous season is the first tie-breaker for teams with the same winning percentage. The team with the lowest strength of schedule percentage wins the tiebreaker and picks ahead of all other teams with the same record.

Divisional and conference records are the next step in the tie-breaking procedure.

As a last resort, a coin toss is used to determine the order of selection for teams with the same winning percentage.

I'm guessing its a strength of schedule issue.

    Seeding and head-to-head are non-factors.

    Thanks!

Those rules don't make sense to be but I guess it is what it is.

SOS was the tiebreaker for who got #29 and who got #30. We'll alternate for every round after that. Bears go first in 1, 3, 5, and 7; we go first in 2, 4, and 6. We traded our 2nd rounder, so it's really just 4 and 6.
