I think the Dems play to their strength which is liberals, minorities, and illegals. I don't think this is something new, look here in NYC, just go back a little more than twenty years and you can see racial issues real or made-up (Tawana Brawley) used to mobilize a demographic. Now the leader of those disasters is treated with respect and reverence by our President...I'm talking about Al Sharpton if I was too vague.

Race baiting is now part of the handbook for Democratic candidates, unfortunately the entire population of the US is not bright enough to see through its transparency.

lol, as if on queue, there is a story now how Whoopie, Joy Behar, Bob Shiftler, and Jesse Jackson are all accusing Trump of being a racist. Mainstream media will now jump on board and this will be all over the place by tomorrow.

yes, cedk, it is very frustrating.

Glad you see it I hope you condemn this ...Democrats like to think they always play in goodness so this thread is to point out how evil they can be....
Playing this card going into the presidential election will really set us back in race relations....
I hope Bobby Jindal joins the race to stop the racist card of the Democrates....

Don't know if any good but stopping the racial overtures in this race is most important...

I'd like to see Allen West become more of a national candidate, pehaps VP at this point.

Would be nice.....But they will dog the heck out of him.....calling him a uncle Tom.....for some reason Condi Rice could pull it off for V.P

Gimme a break. Nobody plays the race card more than white conservatives. "Those darn freeloaders stealing our money with taxes for wellfare and medicare!" "Obama is from another country and a muslim" "Obama doesn't like white people" (actual Glenn Beck quote).

It's easy to point fingers and turn the other side into villains. How long until the Republicans reach for their "favorite weapons" and start bringing up abortion and gay marriage?

    Socialism.

And it's my favorite weapon, because it's accurate.

As is Abortion (it is the killing of a fetus, not a "choice").

Gay Marriage....well, righties hurt themselves on that one. :dunno:

Difference between calling a policy socialist, or abortion "murder", is that claims of racism seem to require no such backing, just the opinion of the speaker claiming their opponent is racist.

For example, I saw I dislike Obama because I find Policy X Socialist.

Obama Supporter X then says "you hate him because you're racist, and you hat ethe policy because you're a racist, and you don;t support equallity! Bigot!"

Now, I won;t say some on the right don;t do the same/flipped, but to my eyes and ears there is a definitive difference between discussing policy, and one side claiming it's Socialist/Social Wefare Statist/Whatever, and the projection that disagreement with a policy must mean racism.

Probably talking to myself on this one, but meh.

In terms of socialism, it's been in place for almost a century. Both sides of the political aisle have propped it up, supported it, and made it a staple of American politics. No argument from me that Democrats have pushed it to a heavier extreme.

I think my main point is both sides use wedge issues as "weapons" against the other side.

In any case, you are fooling yourself if you do not think there was an element of racism and anti-foreigner sentiment to the birther movement. If Obama was a WASP named John Smith who presented his Certificate of Live Birth prior to running for President, no one who have blinked an eye.

    lol.

One sides main weapons (in your opinion) are actual issues in the eyes of Christianity, a staple of the conservative base.

The other side just screams racism whenever they don't like what the other side is saying.

Yeah. Those two things are clearly in the same ballpark

Guess I'm fooling myself then, same as I'm "fooling myself" on Immigration, where those who wish to see the Law enforced (and the Laws Reviewed and Changed by Congress to be better for all involved) are ALSO described as "racist and anti-foreigner". Funny, I am apparently an anti-foreigner foreigner.....;)

What I see here, and in most things, is Politics and convenience. Right attacks this, because he if Left and can be attacked. And don't pretend it doesn't go both ways, i..e John McCain had won (lol, lol, lol ,lol), there would still be Birthers.....except they'd be combing the records of Panama, as opposed to Hawaii.

You prove my point, even when it's obviously X, it's soooooo easy to just say, "must be racism, they're all racist anyway". It's like left-leaners just can't help it, their entire worldview is partially formed around the idea that Right = Racism.

    Ironic, that, given history. :dunno:

    Here's the pragmatic centrist.

Seriously, we need all of those fetuses to be born like NOW. Who else are conservatives going to whine about the ultra-rich's tax dollars supporting 20 years from now?

I didn't comment on the wedge issues used, but since you bring it up, abortion, gay rights, environmentalism, racism, science vs. religion, etc. are all wedge issues used by both sides to their advantage.

Not making any claims toward you specifically, but I don't think it's deniable that there was a racist element in the birther movement for some percentage of its believers.

In no way am I pretending it doesn't go both ways. My whole point is that it does go both ways.

    You didn't comment?

You basically justified painting the (R) as racists as acceptable because the (R) has issues with abortion and gay marriage...

Pandering to your base is fine. What's not okay is labeling an entire political party racist. That's unnacceptable. Sorry you don't see it that way.

I didn't justify anything. If that's your interpretation of what I wrote, then so be it.

He has spent plenty of time with racist friends. You can tell a person by his friends!
