Weinergate

    What a dick.

Remember that guy (R) who took a picture with his shirt off - and sent it to a dating site? Hounded into early retirement in a matter of hours.

Now we have Anthony Weiner (hero to many here) taking a picture of himself with a stiffie and sends it to a young lady. Or something.

I don't know wtf happened, but I do know guilty-acting when I see it.

All he wants is the pic deleted and let it go and go back to "doing the job I was sent to Washington to do".

    Legal counsel? Yes.

Initiate an investigation to find this "conservative" hacker who stole my id and committed unspeakably disgusting acts in my name? Nah. Let bygones be bygones - let's just move on.

Not going to end well for the weiner.

Is it that hard to look up what is happening or you just want to make up your own stuff?
Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) says he’s the latest congressional victim of a Twitter hacking, BigGovernment.com reported early Saturday.

An indecent photo was sent from his account on the social networking site on Friday night. The photo, which shows a man from the waist down wearing bulging gray underwear, was sent to a woman who is a journalism student in the Seattle area. She quickly deleted her Twitter and Facebook accounts after the incident.

According to the New York Daily News, the woman, Gennette Nicole Cordova, released a statement Sunday that said: “The account that these tweets were sent from was familiar to me; this person had harassed me many times after the Congressman followed me on Twitter a month or so ago. Since I had dealt with this person and his cohorts before I assumed that the tweet and the picture were their latest attempts at defaming the Congressman and harassing his supporters.”
What do you want her to say? That dong pic was supposed to be for her enjoyment alone.

For the record, on Twitter the weiner only seemed to follow young girls from faraway places with huge tits and nothing to say.

My weiner, for one, can follow that logic.

Pretty fishy since it still hasn't been reported to the police (computer trespassing, impersonation, etc).

Only in DC would Weiner be considered a "ladies man". lol

Lets See The weiner ask the Fbi to get involved. If he has nothing to hide than he should welcome their involvement. If he dosen't is he admitting guilt. Question for the liberals. If weiner did send those pictures , should he resign.

Too many coincidences in Weiner's tale

    By PETER INGEMI

    Last Updated: 7:22 AM, May 31, 2011

In the New York of the late 1800s, Boss Tweed famously complained about Thomas Nast cartoons: Though many immigrants in the city couldn’t read, even the illiterate could understand “those damn pictures.” Rep. Anthony Weiner and his staff now face a similar problem.

By now, you’ve heard about the Tweet picture sent from Weiner’s account to a young lady named Gennette Nicole Cordova. The congressman has insisted his accounts were “hacked.” Cordova, in a statement released late Sunday night (36 hours after the tweet in question), says, “The account that these tweets were sent from was familiar to me. This person had harassed me many times after the congressman followed me on Twitter.” She also said that her previous tweet, “I wonder what my boyfriend @repweiner is up to,” was a joke.

Such statements notwithstanding, those on the left trying to paint this as a conspiracy must deal with an array of odd elements that an increasingly tech-savvy public may find suspicious:

    * Not just the offending picture but most of the congressman’s pictures were removed from the site.

    * Not only did the young lady’s Facebook and Twitter accounts disappear from the ’Net (she’s apparently since started a new Twitter account, and may go back on Facebook), but also her bylines on articles in her college paper.

    * The congressman made it a point to tweet what time an East Coast interview would be shown in Seattle, where the young lady’s from.

    * Cordova reportedly wrote in the college paper in March about Twitter’s verifiable accounts giving access to celebrities.

Coincidences all, but there’s one more that millions of Twitter users will understand best:

On Twitter, famous people tend to have tens of thousands to millions of followers — but they themselves follow only a fraction of that amount.

Rep. Weiner is a man of national prominence, a rising star in the Democratic Party, frequently on TV, a past and likely future candidate for mayor. He knows and is known by thousands of movers, shakers, members of the press and politicians on the city, state and national levels.

Yet, as of yesterday, he was following fewer than 200 others — and, with all those famous folks to choose from, one of the few he followed was Cordova, a 21-year-old college student who lives nearly 3,000 miles away in Bellingham,Wash.

Run that though your head for a second and at the same time remember two important facts about Twitter:

    1. If two people follow each other on Twitter, they can send private messages unseen by others.

    2. The difference between a direct message, seen by only the recipient, and a public tweet, seen by the world, is a single character.

The biggest problem for Weiner and his defenders on the left is not bloggers from the right. It’s the details of “#weinergate” can be understood by millions of ordinary people in 140 characters or less.

She is backing away from her speculation that it was a hacker. Her official line is "I don't know nothing about nothing".

Really is nothing she can do for him at this point, even if she wanted to.

She started a new Twitter account and is reveling in the attention.

Weiner's meat is cooked. What a f'ing douche.

The question is...how hard the Press, whom some say have a liberal bias, pursue this in light of the overwhelming evidence that this is in fact a Weiner gaff...

No doubt a conservative would be throttled mightely.

    Am I wrong?

If he were a republican, he would have been driven from office by the media already.

What's ironic is his name says it all.:)

The paper listed some pix of the girls he follows on Twitter. Not a bad looking bunch; even a former(?) porn star.

Seems perfectly innocent to me. I only go to strip clubs to listen to the music.

    No, really. :alien:

partisan politics aside, Weiner truly is a bad guy...& having him as nyc mayor would be an unmitigated disaster- those who complain about Bloomberg need to realize that he saved us from "public advocate" Mark Green, or another Dinkins clone...I fear post-Bloomberg nyc

I posted this in anther thread, it bears repeating:
http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2011/05/anthony_weiner_demonstrates_ho.html

Anthony Weiner is Not Doing Himself Any Favors

We won't pretend to know the truth behind Weinergate — whether Weiner was the victim of a hacker or prankster or conservative conspiracy, or whether he was personally responsible for sending a college girl a photo of a man's bulge over Twitter. But what's clear is that Weiner is only inviting more suspicion on himself by the way he's handling the attention. During an encounter with reporters earlier today, Weiner refused to answer any questions about the incident, including whether that was his own package in the photo, why he contacted a lawyer instead of law enforcement, and why he was following the college student on Twitter in the first place. Instead, he pointed reporters to his previous statements (which don't actually address those questions) and expressed his desire to move on to more important business.

If Weiner is truly innocent of Internet hanky-panky, such questions would indeed be irritating and tiresome. And on conservative blogs like the Daily Caller, where the angle of Weiner's penis at rest is being closely scrutinized, the treatment of the controversy is becoming absurd, and frankly, gross. But dodging easily answerable questions is definitely not the way to make it all go away. For example, something like, "No, that was not my penis. I know this because I didn't take a photo of my penis," would have been a perfectly fine response. The mainstream press, at least, would be satisfied.

Evading questions, however, is a strategy most often utilized by people with something to hide, and will only further pique the media's interest. Weiner either has something to hide, or he has no idea how the media operates.

Update: In a separate and lengthier scrum with reporters, Weiner continued to refuse to answer questions about the Twitter incident. He also became more combative, even referring to a CNN producer at one point as a "jackass"
