She's "overexposed" because she a) has an enormously successful single and b) can actually sing. The latter is something many of these pop-oriented female "singers" are woefully horrible at, generally concerning themselves more with their appearance.
I like Adele, but I am not sure she will have the staying power needed in a society usually more concerned with style over substance.

BTW I don't know if you were referring to the uptempo record or the ballad, but check out this 16 Y/O Girl who covered the ballad, this kid is terrific. Maybe this next generation will finally save us from the plague of hip hop.
