They make perfect sense when you think about it. the Jets want to get some youth and speed into the receiving end of the offense. hence Kerley will get some experience this year. They want a clubhouse influence like Maso to tutor the kids and be a positive influence in the clubhouse. cotch is coming off a poor year ( for him); a back operation; a big salary; declining speed. Why not look to improve the team in other and less costly ways

How is he not worth more then Mason?
Do you honestly think this guy is going to be happy as a #3 WR? He'd be holding press conferences from his driveway within a couple of weeks.

Mark Clayton would be a solid signing. Had a nice year with St. Louis last year as Bradford's security blanket. Good hands, decent speed. Similar to Derrick Mason in a lot of ways, but a lot younger.

This is a MERGED Terrell Owens thread? Two different people actually started threads on this?

I'm scanning the board but can't find a Jerry Rice thread. Do I start one?

Yes why not. He has been rotated in and out of the 3 spot for what 2 years now. When he signed with Cinci that was the original plan. Chad and Caldwell looked like a pretty good 1 2 punch the year before. Owens just outplayed them both and the team overall was a disappointment. He was also demoted to the 3 spot in Buff the previous year. And oddly took it very well. Why would he care if he was a 3 now? If he was 30 yeah maybe but this is a guy at the end of his career that is just looking to be on a winning team. I don't think he would care if he was a 6th WR as long as he can be on a winner. Owens will give you his best and you will only hear him when the team looses. If he plays well enough to be a 2 then all the better. He has his HOF and cash now he just wants his ring.

T.O.? excuse me while I go puke my guts out....

    Give the kids a shot...

Would the Pitt Steelers sign T.O. now? No they would give a guy like Emmanuel Sanders a shot...or Mike Wallace....

I'm surprised we haven't heard Marvin Harrison's name yet. Or how about we bring back Keyshawn?

FWIW - T.O. started following Santonio and Sanchez on twitter, and tweeted them today. It's probably just coincidence, but the timing makes it odd since the Jets are playing so poorly and T.O. desperately wants to play for a team.

I have always liked Owens. Heck of a player at his peak. I don't see a fit with the Jets even though the argument can be made that he is better than Burress and Mason when he was at 100 percent. If an injury were to happen. I could see TO being an option perhaps. Only then.

I still state that we should have re-signed Braylon. Cotchery demanded to be released so that he can be Mr. Inactive in Pittsburgh. Good call J-Co. The Steelers are stupid if they think that Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders and company are better than Cotchery.

Sanchez has been having trouble feeding his current receivers and you want to bring in Owens? After two games, he's going to be talking about how the Jets need to feed him the ball.

calm down. I was stating what I saw from T.O.'s twitter. Like I noted earlier, it's probably just coincidence.

I definitely agree with that!! If TO is healthy he is probably better than Burress and Mason and neither of those guys can stretch the field (at least TO could provide a deep threat).

I think we really screwed up with the WR position and we are paying for it now. Plax and Mase look pretty much done, so if TO is available we might as well bring him in for a workout.
