Big Woody at Jets Camp Watching

RT Damien Woody is on the practice field this afternoon -- watching! Not suited up, so don't get any ideas! #nyj

    per Jenny Vrentas

Yeah he's not suited up but reallllly interesting that he's at the facility on the practice field.

Thought he took some type of media job... Makes sense that he'd be there.

wondering if he only left the jets b/c he thought that with hunter, turner and ducasse, there was no room for him at RT.

he's a commentator on NFL Live...he's not a sideline reporter or beat reporter...

those guys don't goto training camps they comment from connecticut.

in fact after the game the guys on NFL Live said "Woody, I bet your phones on speed dial" and he didn't say anything he just got a **** eating grin on his face

He's an ESPN analyst. Saw him on TV last weekend.

I've always been a fan, but at 33, coming off a torn achilles, should we be looking to him as our OL saviour?

OL savior? how about OL backup depth

you're telling me if woody has to step in for a few games you'd be opposed to that? or if he has to step on for a play here and there?

If he is healthy yes. IS 33 really that old for an O-lineman?

He'll be 34 in November, and has some miles on him like all 12 year O lineman vets. I'm more concerned about the health of the injury and what kind of shape he's maintained.

you realize he'd be backup with time to get in shape right?

Absolutely. But, IMO, we need someone today who's in shape now (I doubt he's been training, especially once he nailed the TV gig), younger, and not coming off a torn achilles. I would love for Woody to be the answer, but I won't hold my breath. But I'm cool with giving him a shot.

not sure why he has to be in peak shape as a backup who is afforded to get in shape...

plus in terms fo the o-line for continuity he knows the system, knows the team, and can step right in and get the job done if needed.

I read the first five words of the thread title and my heart almost skipped a beat. I would love for Woody to come back but I'm by no means expecting it.

    OL saviour?

We don't put a "u" in that word here in the United States.

And, in any case, we're not looking for a savior. We're looking for a back-up.
