I hate these threads because all of teh YooTubez are blocked at work, and by the time I get home I am too tired to contribute :shakes_cane:

Anyway, I started listening to these guys from the 'Hotline Miami' game soundtrack

Wait a second, aren't you an IT guy? Therefore, aren't you in charge of what's blocked? Or, at a minimum, can't figure out a way around it?

Jeezus, you must be one lousy IT guy.

We've got lots of IT guys, I'm just not one of them that has a say in what gets blocked, and what doesn't.

Frankly its not worth messing with anyways. Im plugged into my ipod pretty much most of the day anyway. (to drown out the voices in my head....and of my coworkers)

    Zomby Woof; Zappa Plays Zappa.

Check out the Best Guitarist from Carle Place; Steve Vai. Now that's how you solo in rock: melodic, flamboyant and absolutely burning. Oh yeah

Great solo. I always enjoy his playing.

One question: At around 4:25, what is Vai doing with his fretting hand? Using it as a "capo"?

Thats exactly what it looks like............ hammering and capoing with the left hand. Crazy. Mingus did this on the double bass.

An absolute clinic. Townsend abusing that SG, and making those Hiwatts scream, are the reasons I still cherish rock & roll from that era above all
other incarnations. I even had a version (Esso logo) of that white jumpsuit.

My thinking is muting - that's was a pretty savage hammer on lick - only way to mute and access 90% of the fretboard is to clamp it as so

Makes sense, too. But why does Vai change his fret position?
