That song definitely needs a 10 minute solo section. Over the years, I've played that tune a thousand times. The groove is just epic.

Usually, I focus on Robby Krieger's massive rhythm track. Yesterday, I was knocked out by his soaring (albeit too brief) phrasing during the solo at approx. 1:39. Just beautiful and skillfully played. I did not remember it being so great.

Am I the only one that read this as "massive rack"?

    Borgo post and all that...

About a year ago I found a remix on youtube that was about 9 minutes long, but it got a little disco-y in the middle.

I'd love to hear someone just recut it with loop after loop after loop.

It's on my playlist when I run and at under 3 mins, it's not nearly long enough.

Generally, I hate remixes. I would want to hear The Doors, from back then, performing an extended solo section, with Krieger and Manzarek trading licks.

Check out Tommy Aldridge's incredible drum work on this Purple classic (Yes, Coverdale was their vocalist at the time, having replaced Ian Gillan.). As always, Doug Aldrich shreds.

It really gives you the feeling of floating. Hidden amongst all that phase is Trower's tasty blues.

If you guys ever get a chance, go see Johnny A. Great guitarist.

Here is his cover of The Beatles' "The Night Before" taped at the Iridium in the city. (music starts around the 40 second mark)

What a haunting rendition. Winwood is still in fine voice.

WCO: Watching Winwood, realized I was playing the F & G in the wrong position for the verse. Love the low growl he gets with that fingering.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the Drop D, WCO.
