    Movies you're looking forward to

Here's a movie I'm looking forward to -- The Rum Diary, based on Hunter S. Thompson's first book that was actually published last (he wrote it in his early 20s, and it was finally published posthumously). Starring Johnny Depp (naturally), and the aforementioned Amber Heard.

A remake (actually I think it's a "prequel") to John Carpenter's The Thing.

Loved the 1982 version, looking forward to this one.

    Did you read it?

I remember you saying you'd never read any of his work. Even though it was his first, it's a really good read.

I did, yeah. Great book, definitely enjoyable.

I remember saying that I'd never read anything by him. Since then I've read Rum Diary, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, and Fear & Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72.

He's a great, great writer. I've also read some of his correspondences to editors, agents, fans, etc. What a nut.

It is a prequel. It tells the story of the Norweigian base camp that found the UFO in the first place, and will end with the Alien in the form of a dog running away with the Norweigian helicopter in persuit, shown in the early part of the original film.
