    Two Questions re: SNL

    ...

    1. How many of you saw the Radiohead performance on SNL this weekend?

    2. How many of you killed yourselves afterward?

I didn't see it live, but I saw the videos of the songs they played and they sucked. Beats the sh1t out of Coldplay, though.

Lead singer Thom Yorke should be pistol whipped, hourly until the 2012 cataclysm, for that vocal performance and "dancing"/gay gyrating. Worst example of a male rock artist moving his body in a rhythmic fashion since Bill Squier killed his career in the video for "Rock Me Tonight". Section beginning at 1:15 is not to be believed.

LOL. Here's the link to the Bowie/Jagger collaboration. Anyone watching this will immediately order a vaniilla mint frappé. It's just so, unbelievably, gay. Wait, it is Jagger and Bowie. Angie once caught them in bed together anyway.

I tuned in to watch their performance....

My wife (who likes Coldplay) was like "oh, is this another one of those emo bands?"

If Thom Yorke knew he was being compared to Billy Squire, I'm pretty sure that HE would commit suicide.

BTW - I'm pretty sure that video is the only reason Squire disappeared off the face of the earth never to be heard from again... Talk about poor career choice.

SNL is still on tv? I stopped watching in the mid-90's when it stopped being funny

There was an interview with him a few years ago (Pop-up Video?) wherein he stated to this day he doesn't get why there was so much backlash from that video.

    I'm serious.

Listen to Major Minus, one of Coldplay's new tracks from their upcoming long player. Oasis meets U2 meets Radiohead. Haters may hate, but this isn't Viva La Vida which is a huge step in the right direction.

I prefer the live version from Glastonbury, but the Letterman one is still a decent watch.

I've seriously tried to like Radiohead, I have honestly seriously tried to...I just simply don't get it. And now I'm even more confused....

Listen to these songs from The Bends:

    Planet Telex
    The Bends
    High and Dry
    Fake Plastic Trees

Then listen to these songs from OK Computer:

    Paranoid Android
    Karma Police
    No Surprises

And this one song from Hail to The Thief:

    There There (video above)

If you don't like one of these eight tracks, you won't like Radiohead. These choices are from when they were trying to make popular music. You know, the non-esoteric, non-artsy music that's actually (wait for it) listenable.

The reason you can't "get it" with Radiohead now is because that's their schtick. They're the "serious" British band. Love 'em, but which they would have stuck to their early formula.
