Listen to these songs from The Bends:

Planet Telex
The Bends
High and Dry
Fake Plastic Trees

Then listen to these songs from OK Computer:

Paranoid Android
Karma Police
No Surprises

And this one song from Hail to The Thief:

There There (video above)

If you don't like one of these eight tracks, you won't like Radiohead. These choices are from when they were trying to make popular music. You know, the non-esoteric, non-artsy music that's actually (wait for it) listenable.

The reason you can't "get it" with Radiohead now is because that's their schtick. They're the "serious" British band. Love 'em, but which they would have stuck to their early formula.

Radiohead doesn't care what you think. They make music for their own entertainment.

Sound familiar? Because - to me - it sounds a lot like a certain posting philosophy of someone near and dear to your heart.

Yeah, I've actually liked most of those songs. But the other stuff I just don't get.

Don't worry, I'm a huge fan and I don't get it either.

The brilliance of Radiohead is that it takes skill to write hit songs, and instead of trying they make basement-quality electronica and have most everyone convinced that they're true "artists" and bands like Coldplay are commercial sell-outs.

B-Sides and LP tracks are dime-a-dozen, a great rock hit is the rarity. Love both bands, but Coldplay has more talent and remain relevant and they don't take the easy route and release unfinished computer jams and call it "art".
