Hoffs and Sweet have appeared on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast a few times. She was a guest with Sweet and the rest of the bangles on the podcast that dropped Sept 26th. The band performed tracks, both old and new, in between bits.

While not reinventing the wheel musically, they do have a distinct sound, and do make some pretty catchy, hook laden pop that doesn't instantly drive me nuts.

Totally agree. Once Prince added his influence and producing skill, they became a pretty tight-sounding pop band.

Interesting, if not flawed, version of this Yes classic.

As for Susanna Hoffs, you cannot take your eyes off of her when she performs. There is an alluring sensuality about the way she moves on stage, and her sexy smile/smirk. Wish the quality of the video were better.

Far as I know, she's still married to Jay Roach, a film director. I did not know about the covers album, but will check it out. They covered one of my favorite Beatles tunes, "Rain".

    Not bad either:

I always dug Matthew Sweet as well. Here's a link to an interesting article on the project:

Thanks for that. Wasn't aware that there was another volume.

They sound pretty tight here, especially if they are playing in that SNL studio...that place has the worst acoustics...

Not only is she smokin', but she's got a great set of pipes, no auto-harmonizers back then...

I love this pretext about the bangles new album. Anyway, she was never hotter than at :15-1:00 of the below. And she is HISTORICALLY hot in those 45 seconds.

Great. Exactly what I was talking about before. She always gives this little sly look, like a signal to the viewer/concertgoer that we'll meet back at the hotel after the song to bang. That's right, right?

Cool. That has to be Steve Howe playing on this track.

You get major kudos from me for that get. I just checked, and it is Howe on their version. Good ear.

One of my favorite Derek & The Dominos tunes, they do a very good rendition of "Bell Bottom Blues". I'm assuming it's Greg Leisz on the lead parts, not Sweet.

When I was 17 I was dating a girl that looked like her, and it was the 80s right around when all of these Bangles songs came out. Now every song reminds me of her...

But at least I found out on Facebook she pushed out 4 kids and got fat - not even an attractive fat - pear-shaped fat.

Accepted, but under extreme protest (both of you should continue as is). Sooth should give you both a salary to create those hilarious masterworks.

Holy, god. Who doesn't fall in love with her watching this clip from the movie, The Allnighter, directed by Susanna Hoffs' mother, Tamar Simon Hoffs? It gets interesting at about 2:00.
