Thread: Freakin snowstorm this weekend...seriously?
His power was restored on Monday! He's one of the aristocratic elitists!

Look at him, taunting me with his electricity...
LOL. Exactly how I felt hearing my neighbor's generator going non-stop.
Welcome back paisan, glad to here you are well.

However, you always struck me as a doer--kind of shocked you don't have a generator.

    _
Thanks, JS. No, I don't own a generator. I don't like storing gasoline.
You could power his city block if you could capture the energy from his love thrusts.... like a gerbil on a wheel.
LOL. The imagery here is really demented (that's a good thing in my world, southside) and hilarious. "His thrusting hips kept my elderly mother's respirator working until NYSEG restored our power. God bless you, Borgoguy."

Let's just say I've seen several horrific accidents in my life involving gasoline and oily rags (not like the ones after one of JT's "festive" weekend jaunts).
Thats the way to go, if you plan on dieing in your current house and want to spend alot of money. A portable gas generator rated for 10,500 watts will operate the furnace and other appliances just fine. You will need to install a transfer switch. The best part if you move you can take it with you.
got the transfer switch in the plan, 10.5 k for watts, will have to check that out

Back about 10 years, I met with a representative from a company which installs battery backup systems. At the time, it was too expensive and did not address all my electrical needs (well pump, electric heat, etc).

With 20/20 hindsight, I would have installed solar panels the first year I moved here.

Solar panels void alot of roof warrantys, plus they get snow covered. I have a newer 30 Timberline shingle roof I called the company when I thought I wanted solar panels they said you will void the roof warranty. Im also considering a windmill turbine for my backyard. Survival of the fittest is my thought.

Great idea. WHen the zombies come, first thing they will look for.

"ah.....a windmill turbine. This guy will have fuel, food, guns, ammo, an underground shelter...... and Archie comixz. Lots of them. "

I am now considering buying a hot air balloon, for those rare times that roadways become impassible due to weather or other unforseen calamity.

Imagine my glee as I hover overhead as others shake their fist. And the gloating.......
