    HEAVY D -- Dead at 44 R.I.P.

    SO that makes 3:

Andy Rooney, Joe Frazier, Heavy D

Rap legend Heavy D -- one of the most influential rappers of the '90s -- died earlier today ... TMZ has learned.

Heavy D -- real name Dwight Arrington Myers -- was rushed to an L.A. hospital around noon today ... and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1 PM. He was 44 years old.

We've learned a 911 call was placed from Heavy's Beverly Hills home around 11:25 AM to report an unconscious male on the walkway .

When help arrived, we're told Heavy D was conscious and speaking -- and was transported to a nearby hospital.

He died a short time later.

Cops are investigating the death -- and so far, there are no obvious signs of foul play. Police are currently at the home.

Heavy D had several massive hits -- including "Now That We Found Love." He also wrote and performed the theme song for "In Living Color" ... and appeared as an actor in the movie "Life."

Heavy just performed at the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert in Wales on October 8. He sang "Jam" with La Toya Jackson -- and rocked it

"NOW THAT WE FOUND LOVE!!! What are we going to do . . . . .. with it ?!?!?!"

    Just a heads up...
In order for that whole rule of 3 thing to work, people have to actually know all 3 of the people.

    You're welcome.

I forgot that perhaps people over 40 and under 28 may not have known one of the pioneers of bringing Hip Hop into the mainstream in the 90's. It's ok, consider yourself enlightened and slightly more cultured now. You're welcome.

    OK..let me rephrase...

In order for that whole rule of 3 thing to work, people outside of a 13 year sliver of age segment have to actually know all 3 of the people.

    You're welcome.

    RIP to the Big Fella.

The diddly diddly D was awesome for someone with a clean rap. Pretty good actor too. Was in movie about two years ago with Tim Allen and Renee Russo in which he was an FBI agent and played the straight funny guy well. RIP D

    Apology accepted.

It's more than just a "13 year sliver of age," but I can see how if you were not in tune with R&B and Hip-Hop (even New Jack Swing, for some) during that burgeoning era you might not fully appreciate his contributions. I've realized it's a "cultural/generational" thing on this board that probably doesn't hit most of you Hampurites. It's like going to E. 174th St and Webster Ave in the Bronx and declaring Ted Nugent died, you'd get a lot of these :

Can we count JoPa's career and reputation as one of the deaths?

    RIP. I think?

I'll just have to console myself with the Jets finally being ranked No. 1 in the DVOA.

At my wedding reception in the summer of '91, the dj must have played this song 3 times. Each time it came on, the dance floor got packed.
