/ sees people comparing the first lady being booed at NASCAR to Bachmann being called a very derogatory term

/ realizes some people actually believe it's the same situation

/ sees others rationalizing it away because of what happened "200 years ago"

/ searches for a facepalm icon and figures why bother . . .

    Moot point.

There are no house bands with 4 white guys.

This is a free speech issue. They can play what they like but may have to suffer the consequences.

And she needs thicker skin if she wants to be President. Stop the whining.

    Great job dodging the question.

No one "feels bad" for Bachmann -- they simply want to know if the situation would have been handled any differently if a female black liberal walked out to a similarly derogatory song.

Pretty sure you already know the answer . . .

I'm thinking it would be about the same as this. The victim complains and an apology follows. And then another piece news replaces it and life goes on.

wouldn't the opposite would be a black man coming out on the show and calling the white house band nice honest people?

    Just like Imus, right?

You know, the guy who made a LIVING out of mocking people in an inappropriate way, until he decided to pick on the "wrong" people.

I mean, c'mon, "nappy haired hoes" . . . how could you POSSIBLY get more offensive than that . . .

    Desperate? Pot meet kettle.

We either live in a society where people can handle being called names (which is all EITHER situation is), or we will not stand for it -- whether it's "nappy haired hoes" or "lying a** B****".

Imus was a side comment that should have flew right by like the thousands of others he made. Highly doubt any of these "young women" would have even known (or cared) he said it. But the PC crowd saw it differently, and he lost his job over it.

Bachmann was "set up" by being invited on the show and then having that song as her introduction. Do I feel bad for her? Not at all -- it comes with the territory (though I hope Fallon suffers consequences for his poor taste). But to imply there's no double standard is at best ignorant, and more likely a purposefully turned blind-eye . . .

So you're saying we need affirmative action legislation by our fair-minded Federal Govt. to balance the obvious racism involved in the corporatocracies hiring practices in re: House Bands?

Actully, like most of the (R) candidates, she should really just go away. She's patheticly bad.

You have no problem with parents yelling foul things at college athletes, who are there to play a game?

Bachmann is selling herself to the public for financial gain, she made a business deciscion to put herself out there to market Michelle Bachmann.

Part of being a public servant is putting up with the public, please tell when the Rutgers women's basketball team signed up to be ridiculed by Imus.

Parents yelling foul things at college athletes? Don't remember that when I played ball and don't remember it when my children played. Students from other schools - absolutely. Of course, things have been deteriorating lately.
Too much crudeness in society. And this was a closed setting, unlike Mrs. Obama at Nascar. The show was a set-up. Nascar was spontaneous.
I dislike the President and some memeber of Congress but would never boo them or be crude.

NASCAR and the Roots song were both classless. Pretty simple.

Are you denying the music they listen to say comments WAY worse than what Imus said, yet get paid/praised to do it?

If you can't acknowledge the double standard, so be it. That doesn't change the fact that it DEFINITELY exists . . .

Of course he is. The debasement of woman is okay as long as "they're" debasing their woman and calling each other derogatory names. Booing someone because you don't like the fact that she really has no respect for, or even likes the county (or flag) that has GIVEN her a $400,000.00 education is a little different than insinuating that a lady is a BYTCH.
