Dennis Byrd on a strip sack on Chiefs Qb slams into Scott Merseruea and breaks neck. I was sitting in 119 and following the ball that was fumbled. Never did I think the injury was that bad. Then after getting Dennis off the field in the other tunnel i saw the ambulance lights come on and pull out. When I got home that night I heard how bad it was.
He was a determined faithful man he walked again - and I was there to see that as well.

Was that 19 years ago already? Holy moly, time sure goes fast....I do remember that and remember the following opening day against Denver when Dennis wallked out to mid field, everyone cried and cried, it was probably the best Jet moment since 1969 up to that time.

I remember last year when Byrd visited the Jets in the Locker-room and inspired everyone, in particular Braylon.

I remember the image of two jets bringing out Byrd's jersey out on the field...

I was in section 101 that day. Remember it like it was yesterday. Thank God he made such a remarkable recovery.

    Was there as well.

Stadium was so quiet as he lay on the turf.

Amazing man. Stadium went crazy when he came back and walked out to mid-field.

I was in section 114 4 rows off the field. I will never forget that as long as I live. Dennis Byrd is a legendary NYJet in my eyes.
