Please please look at this play and explain it to me

I am at a complete loss to understand this play and it scares me that this is something our brain trust thinks is a good play in any situation much less from your own 4.

Second Quarter 3:31 2nd and 8 from our own 4.

Sanchez gets picked and has gotten alot of heat for that and other "bad" decisions.

Looking at the play call - it was a one-receiver route with Tone the only receiver on the pattern.

So basically Sanchez goes back to pass and is standing 4 yards deep into his own end zone with only one option.

I can't for the life of me understand this call I don't even know where to start with what is wrong with this playcall.

1. what is the option Sanchez has if Santionio is not open, or gets jammed at the line or trips? he can't throw the ball way unless he gets outside the tackles or its an automatic safety.

2, any type of man-under coverage is going to make it difficult to complete this anyway

3. how can you predict where the Db's who don't have coverage responsibilities will react ? what if even one of them recognizes this and rotates to Santonio?

IMO this play has a low percentage of working and a greater potential for disaster.

How can Sanchez agree to run this?
How can Shotty send it in?
How come the genius media doesn't see this and ask about it?
Where is Rex with all this going on?
I am beginning to think this is not all on Sanchez but it seems like a big mess

Help me please!!!!!

I thought the same thing as I watched the play unfold at the stadium. I saw Mulligan and Ducasse come in as eligibles on the left side...to my horror I see ONE wideout on the right...Holmes. Dude goes out with 4 DB's ballhawking. The pass wasn't perfect by Mark...but I don't know how you can even think about running that specific play there. If that decision isn't enough to convince people that Schotty is in over his head, I don't know what is.

Watch this play, it explains the other one quite well. Only Schottenheimer could design routes like these. We are blessed.

But who is to blame here? Im trying to support everyone here but
its getting difficult. If you were Sanchez would you agree to run it?
If you are Rex and see the film do you say something?
I am really at a loss here.

If it was Rogers or Brady or Unitas what could they do put in a
no wiin situation???

To be fair, the Pats dropped 8 into coverage on that play...but that's hilarious

Is it fair to say that if you see 5 wides you will drop 8 or at the very least we should be prepared for that?

Before Sanchez throws the ball two D linemen are on the ground out of the play and McNight is wide open with a huge cushion to get the first down.

Sanchez rushed the throw unnecessarily.

I'm basically at the point of knowing that at 18 TD's on the season Mark is ranked 7th in scoring among every QB in the league and none of them are tied down by Schottenheimer

The dude will be canned eventually, whether it be with Sanchez and Rex still here or when he finally decides to leave but he will be gone. Until then all I can do is watch the film and scratch my head

Sad part is, Keller runs that exact route for what seems 80% of the time. (maybe exaggeration but still). It baffles me that we have a talented TE and waste him on a 4 yard route like that.

#44 is squatting on the route. Sanchez throws to McKnight and its a pick. Same exact play in the Baltimore game that led to the pick 6.

Keep watching Freeman and giving him every excuse in the book, but don't begin to even try telling anyone here that "we deflect all of the blame from Sanchez" when you had the audacity to try and use Freeman's 4 int game as a "yeah but..." argument.

I'll see if i can upload video from the second pats game but there was one play where it was a 2 WR set with Plax and Holmes and they pretty much just run straight down the field as clearing routes and Keller does a button for 6 yards... when we needed 8 yards for a first.

Those players were standing as he released the ball. And even if they were on the ground, the only way he would know that is to take his eye off his WRs which is quite possibly the worst thing he could do.

Its funny because when sanchez holds on to the ball too long he gets killed for not being decisive.

I say the problem starts in practice.
In practice these plays -displayed in that gif- usually work because our offensive players must juke the living piss out of our own defenders and then Schotty figures its a good playcall and puts it in the gameplan.

Because how else is that play supposed to work, except by at minimum, breaking at least one tackle?

5 WR's with 8 dropping into coverage (including big/slow LB's) yet no one is open and no one has a route that passes the 1st down markers! Yet people still support Schitty as competent!

You're right, Josh Freeman just passed Sanchez on the turnover leader board.

Of course he received five stitches on his throwing hand in October, but lets celebrate the fact that he's been brought down to Sanchez's level.

Pump fake to Santonio, toss to 25 and one of two things would have happened: First down or Touchdown.
